AWD burnout?

while messing around today I discoverd how to lay some rubber with the Syclone. do a boost launch (use more boost than is sane), except leave the shifter in "1", and go for it. got 4 nice 1 foot stripes on the driveway. anybody else toy around with the torque?

Re: AWD burnout?

I wondered what the 1 and 2 slots are for. I dont wanna go trying it and break it though.

Driveway? Nice, you must have a long drive. Get some pics of your patch!

With plane every day radials I can put down 40-50 foot stripes
it takes up both lanes!

For some SERIOUS fun, shift your trans into "1" and crank the wheel as far as you can to the left and let it rip with 5 psi or more for AWD doughnuts ...

I've smoked all 4 well into 2nd gear, once.

Actually, I don't make a habit of it as I think it's pretty tough on the drivetrain, IMO.

Re: AWD burnout?

I took some friends out to shoot pool one night. Afterwards we went to Denny's, and some friends of theirs were following us there. My friends wanted to feel a boosted launch, so at a light, I revved in neutral, put it in drive, and built around 6psi. My rear wheels broke loose before the light changed, and the back end started drifting sideways a bit. As soon as the light changed, I let off the brake and spun all 4 for 50' or so. I hadn't had that happen before, so I was almost as surprised as my passengers. The guys in the truck behind me thought it was insane as well. I've done it once or twice since then. I think my truck could use some new brakes.

Yup, doing them prolly helped kill my first transmission. I saw Mark Larson grenade his front differential at the '03 NATS doing them before he made his passes at the track (AWD burnouts that is, NOT doughnuts ;)). "If you wanna play, you're gonna pay".

Re: AWD burnout?

this is the first time ive tried it, and so far so good. ive gotta let the engine warm up otherwise it bogs really bad doing a launch or accelerating hard, ive gotta be at 180 for max performance.

Ha, MY first boosted launch resulted in a twisted propshaft. Guess that weld in the middle didnt hold. (Stupid previous owner) That was my first syclone... so im not referring to Emory.
