Ball Bearing Turbos?

I was wondering how those of you that purchased these turbos feel about them? What stall are you using and is the spool-up rather quick? How do you feel the turbo would react to L35's/412cam/50er's/ult-chip/3-bar map/2800 stall? I know thats alot of questions...just courious though on what route to take with the black bitch.

Well got a DBB 60-1, stock stall, 50's, vortecs, 412, ITS minigate, open dump. I tried to build boost and all i could get was about 1-2#'s out of it and it took a little while. As far as from a roll its not to bad, takes a few seconds if there is no downshift. The gate is set up to only run base boost right now, so it opens a little as soon as it starts to build boost. So with a controler on it, it might spool even quicker. Its really not that bad, it only takes a mabey 10ft before it starts to climb, and like i say i think it will be better once i get a controler hooked to it. Now if you are planning on doing racing go bigger stall, a lot bigger. I am thinking at least 3200 mabey 3500. That way if i ever go bigger the stall will already be there.

Contact Mike Lee. He sells ITS BB turbos and knows a lot about them. I went with the GT35R and fitting it in is a pain.

its really pretty hard to pin down, but i would say on avg you can save yourself a few hundred rpm in stall speed. On some applications i have been able to pick up another 5-8 psi on the line by only changing to the bb. A 60mm P trim is stretching it on a 2100 stall :)

Also keep in mind that the pt44,51,52,54,and 60 many here are using all have Stg V and smaller turbine wheels which will aid in faster spool up but dont make as much power as a p trim turbine. I have only used the turbonetics and innovative designs for ball bearing, so i cant really comment on the garret stuff other what i have seen by just looking at it.

Adding some timing can help the spoolup. 4-6 degrees advanced helps in those "bog" areas. The fuel has to be right too.

actually its the opposite. WHen you watch turbo drag cars launch, they pull all the timing out and throw in as much fuel as possible. Thats why the headers will start to glow, and flames will come shooting out the exhaust.

Timing will make it more responsive, and probably help without an addtional imput to drastically change the tune while on the 2 step or transbrake.

You're right Mike. I think advancing can compensate for poor spoolup by making the engine more responsive.
