Battery goes dead

Hello everyone,

I have had a problem with dead battery's. I have replaced it 3 times thinking it was defective battery. I got the typhoon Started today and took it to a buddy's shop and found out there is a draw on it. We disconnected the alternator and still had the draw. Took the fuses out of the amp and stereo I have and still had it. We took all the fuses out of the fuse panel and again we still had power going to the battery. I'm getting very frustrated at this point I have been fighting this all winter. Then I thought who better to ask for help then my fellow Typhoon/Syclone friends. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate electrical.:rant:

I'd try to find anywhere power passes thru the firewall. Its possible that you have a chafed wire touching metal. I would also try to trace the draw to a circuit at the fuse box. Find the circuit, you find the problem.

Ok I'm going to try and get it on the lift tomorrow and see if I can find a pinched or cut wire. I just did a motor rebuild this summer and maybe a wire got caught. How do you check the circuit? Thought I kinda did that when I pulled all the fuses?

If I remember correctly, and if you've completely disconnected all the wires at the alt, the the draw can only be in the + bat cable itself to the starter or the feed wire off the + bat term to the truck.

I don't have a wiring diag in front of me but I think there is also a feed wire to the anti-lock brakes across the front under the radiator.

Your right, there is a direct feed to the antilock brakes at the right front right behind your headlight or under your battery. You whole see two thick wires with plugs. One is red and one is black. Unplug them both and see if it changes any.

How much electrical draw do you have?

Did you just unplug the Alt., or did you completely disconnect the heavy red lead from the Alt. stud? If the reg. is bad and turning on the Alt. (so to speak) you'll need to disconnect the heavy lead to check it properly. Unplugging it won't do it.
