Best shock to go with on a Typhoon with stock suspension?

What do you recomend? I still have the original shocks all around and want to replace them with something decent. Don't want something that will beat me to pieces, but don't want something too soft.

What do you recomend? When replacing the rear shocks, do you have to go with the air pump type? My compressor still works in the rear, and I wanted to know if most of you unplug them when you replace the shock, or if you buy a shock thats compatable...

Any help appreciated...

I used the KYB gas-s-just. they are awesome. $38 a piece at Tirerack. If you use any of the KYB's the ELC will not be used. You can unplug it through the rear drivers side wheel-well. I just unplugged mine mine and tapped all the fittings up.

I just removed the whole thing today . I had no idea the elec. harness ran all the way to the firewall, thought it would be shorter for some reason. Prolly 15~20# weight savings including the compressor, sensor, and harness :rock:

If you lowered you truck with blocks the KYB's will work fine, since the suspension travel didnt change. If you used drop springs, it may be a better choice to use drop shocks.

KYB makes drop shocks as well. Thats what I used since I went with new belltech springs. I think I posted the pn# in another post.

hey Jer you can just duck underneath and see if there are large blocks between the axle and springs, no need to ask him

I thought about that too after I posted that. I got about 4hrs of sleep the night before and wasn't firing on all cylinders at the time of the post.

first part, yes:tup:

second part, no , it will fit stock and lowered torsion bar trucks. only way you would need a drop shock for the front is, if you used a lowering lower control arms, which we cannot use due to the spindle.

when i went and got my Monomax's from the local speed shop, the guy showed me that they are sold in two variations for the 4X4 s-series suspension. 0-2" drop and lifted.

so these shocks are rated from the factory to provide up to a 2" drop up front with no problems.
