Best trans shops?

Who has the best transmissions at a good price? I'm looking for a 2wd 700r4 to go in my syclone powered blazer and by the time I buy a used trans then rebuild it I may as well order one already built if the price is right. The problem Im seeing is the big companies want an arm and a leg. For $2k I can go 4l80e. I figure someone's got to have a strong rebuilt for a better price. It's no 600hp monster just a little more than stock.

I'm sorry but the spelling on the cases is really gay! I would steer clear just for that reason alone..

Try RPM Transmissions. www.rpmtransmissions.com I consider their prices reasonable, at least for what they built me. Owner of the shop used to own a Syclone as well, so he knows a thing or 2 about these trucks.

$1000.00 for a trans kit and a good convertor and overhaul it yourself. In a 2 wheel drive you don't need a 80-e there. There's been cars in to 10 and better with a decent 60e in them.

Appreciate the responses. I'm a master tech and don't mind rebuilding one. But it's not something I can say I'm real familiar with so if it's only a small price difference to buy one with a warranty vs parts plus tools I'd go for the warranty.

I'll look into the places listed today.

Re: Best trans shops?

Found one used locally with some other parts I need all for $300. Should be picking it up tomorrow. Hopefully it's good but the price makes it worth learning to build one if its not.

Best transmission shop is anybody's preferance. To me, it is the shop that will spend time to address your concerns AFTER the sale. Good luck with that.
