I would like to revisit the discussion of having a cat-delete pipe on a stock Typhoon. Does this cause a overboost problem? I think my cat to clogged, because when I was tuning it up the rotor was on crooked and the truck backfired a couple of times through the exhaust and I think the inside of the cat got clogged. If I need a cat which one do I get?

Thanks in advance.

Most truck experience boost spikes whitout the back pressuer from the cat. You can loosen your WG rod to make it better but that's just a band aid... Get a cat! CatCo has some nice universal units, Summit carries them.

Do you have a vacuum gauge beside the stock one? You can check for high back pressuer (clogged cat) to compare the vacuum readings at 1000RPM and 2500RPM while the truck is in P. If there is a noticable (more than 3 psi) decrease at the higher rev, you have extensive back pressure. It could be still valve timing though, so you should repeat the test with the whole exhaust removed.

I wonder how much a hi flow cat restricts flow. I have the 3 inch that came with the PTE kit. At the track I take the cap off the downpipe and really dont see the difference. My mph changes are minimal.
