have waller or george blake do the build. they know a lot about making the 700r4 last in our trucks. i seriuosly doubt that ck has built a lot of sy/ty specific trannies. :2cents:

i have the tranny, the stage 2 one...but i don't have the $ to put it in my truck yet...there sapose to be a good shop...hopefully it will be in soon....untill then i have to baby my dieing pos tranny.

Chris isn't a bad guy. Unusual personality to say the least. Tends to promise a lot more of the 700 than what it can take. He does have connections and knows what he's doing otherwise. If he is local and you can drive there and drop it off, by all means do so. Just take the massive power promises with a grain of salt. If you have to ship it across several states, use myself or John. We're both used to the syty thing and know what it requires to get to certain levels. Just my 2 cents. Chris isn't here anymore due to some of the personality conflicts so you'll have to go to some other boards to get more info on him. Call him up and see what you think. He's really busy and be prepared to wait while he helps other guys in the shop with other projects while he's talking to you about yours.

Here are the specs on the stage 2 . What do you guys think this baby could handle?
It is rated to Handle 750 foot pounds of torque.
1.) general overhaul kit # 24RK/G
2.) radial grooved forward clutches and steels
3.) 2 raidial grooved overrun cluthces and steels
4.) 8 red lined 3-4 racing clutches and thick steels( stock tranny has 6)
5.) 5 lo reverse clutches and steels
6.) 5 reverse input clutches( stock tranny has 4)
7.) oversize 2/4 red racing band with welded anchors(overdrive band)
8.) updated 29 element input sprag
9.) Premium lo roller clutch
10.) "The Beast" extreme duty sun shell
11.) complete bushing kit
12.) complete thrust washer kit including front end play selective washers
13.) updated 5 pinion front planetary carrier( stcok tranny is 4 pinion)
14.) updated 5 pinion rear planetary carrier( stcok tranny is 4 pinion)
15.) rollerized heat treated reaction tube
So for all you guru tranny guys or anyone with an understanding of what's in this kit ..please enlighten the rest of us who have just a basic knowledge of PR1234.

It means it's not as nice as the ones we make unfortunately.
Stock trans has 5 clutches in the forward. It doesn't use an integrated aka "one piece" sprag. 5 pinion planetaries are powdered metal. Stock 4 pinion planetaries are cast iron. I don't see cryo'd reinforced input drum. I see nothing addressing the servo assembly. I'm not meaning to sound like I'm griping. Everyone builds them the way they want to. That's just the way Chris likes to do them.
Don't use this info to go to Chris and say "why do you do this?". He's not gonna tell you. It's just the way he'll do it and that's it.

I'll second the suggestion to go with George / Prime Gears. Even though I'm not ordering my tranny thorugh him, he was more than happy to spend quite some time on the phone with me, talking about my proposed setup and what I want to accomplish. Great customer service
