Cladding Cushion, I know, I know........

I know this has beatin to death but I have a quick and simple question. I bought the bushwacker edge trim, I dont like it on a glossy black paint it looks shit. Ive seen the welting, its basically the same situation. Ive read about some using 3M double sided tape, tapping it flush with the cladding, and leaving the cover over the other tap side. Does it work/last, and who is using it. Thanks Fern

you can use the double sided tape, but i think it might show.
on my truck, when i had the cladding off, i smeared a thin coat of black silicone to the edge of the cladding that touches the body. i let it dry and then put the cladding on the truck. it doesnt shoe either. just an idea for you.

the guy that had the white syclone with the blue racing stripes had some sort of cushion installed....pretty sure he's from europe...i wouldn't use double sided tape...you could use single sided cushion tape and "U" it over the cladding's mating surface edges so i stays on the cladding doesn't stick to the truck when you install it....the only time i've experienced cladding scratches is when a piece of cladding is loose though...

Just an FYI - the sonoma gt cladding is held on by a very thin piece of black 2-sdie tape. You can't even see it. You should be able to stop at a local body shop and pick some up very cheap.

Thanks for the replies, I will be trying the two sided tape, think I should leave the tape backing on the part that rides against the body, or just secure the cladding completly to the body with the double sided tape??

toyota uses a very nice welting, I've been meaniing to try and find it (keep an eye out for the fender trim on their pickups).

I actually noticed a similar material on the pontiac vibe, so it might be another source to use. This stuff looks reall nice in my opinion.
