Just bought some wheels off a corvette. They are aftermarket so im concern with the wheel diameter. they are 22 and 20s. Tried the wheels on and they look great but the ride wasnt what I expected, really rough and it started to smoke. Now i know I have a problem with the wheel diameter, I just want to know how i can make it work?

You probably smoked the viscious clutch in the transfer case.... With AWD vehicles you need the same tire diameter on all 4 corners. Plus I can only imagine how ridiculous 20/22's look on one of these trucks....

19/20s could look cool, or 18/20s but not to sure about the 20/22. kinda way to big in my opinion.

like stated above, you have to get the matching tire hight in order to not cook the drivetrain.

Not as ridiculous as I envisioned but its pretty obvious why your ride sucks. These trucks ride like sh*t with meaty tires, can't imagine how bad theyll ride with rubberbands as tires. Anyway... You issue is with tire diameter. They need to be within a certain percent front and rear or you WILL burn up the T-case

ok, thanks. well I just ran a tire size calculator and the rears are 22x11s(295/25/22) with a wheel diameter of 27.8 the fronts are 20x10s(275/30/20) with a wheel diameter of 26.5 so I know I need to beef up the fronts. The 275/35/20 diameter is 27.6 and the 285/35/20 diameter is 27.9 which size should I go with?

Either size front will put you within spec where you won't have a problem. Idealy you want them the same but it doesn't have to be perfect. I think my tires are someting like 26.5 and 26.6 and I've been running them like that for years with out issue. 1 inch in diameter like you have now is a definite problem.

I must admit the 20s and 22s look good on these trucks in black. Most times they look too big but I will say both trucks do look good :tup:

They probably ride like they have a steal bar instead of shock but that's a whole different storry lol

the brakes are fine. The rims are 3 peice maya racing ($6500.00 retail) so they might be lighter than the factory wheels

You want to go with the 27.9 diameter. Reason being the front of the truck is much heavier than the rear. Therefore, the front tires are more squashed and have smaller "rolling" diameter unless they have ~7 psi higher air pressure. With 27.9" diameter up front, you wouldn't need so much pressure differential between the fronts and the rears.

Im just gonna throw this out there. With a taller tire, the circumferance is larger resulting in a "taller" gear ratio. more than likely slowing your acceleration down unless you have the motor to pull it.
Weight is also a big concern as well imo. 4 big heavy flywheels (22"s) vs 4 lighter ones (16-19") = less wear and tear on the drivetrain. aluminum is heavier than rubber, the more wheel, the less tire equals more weight. flame if you want. I think a 19" is the absolute biggest to go with and still have a "driveable" truck. And those 18's and 19's better be light weight or you are losing ground. Just my opinion it dont mean much more than a free cup of coffee at most places.

Actually, you want to reduce the rear diameter. Stock diameter is only 25.64, so you will be over 2" larger in diameter if you go with 27.9. Your speedometer reading will be around 5mph off.

How far can I stretch the diameter. I know I can't go pass 1 inch but I'm just trying to find the sweet spot.

You lose the ride,some of the bottom,handling. You name it.
It is your truck though.

Yep wifes truck is slower with the 18s than with the stockers
