What they do is allow you to un cap the exhaust so that it can exit before the cat/muffler. This is a good thing if you have everything to go with it. You will need to make sure your boost control is in good working condition because it allows exhaust to get out with less back pressure and may cause over boost probs. Many people have used it fine, others sometimes run into probs. Either direction it needs to be tuned in with your setup. hth
