Re: Daily drivers?

Got mine in dec '06 , drove it down from k.c area, live near chicago,Had a couple of items that needed attention. had a bad torque converter, and a cracked exhaust manifold, that was a 2 day project, that was a PITA ! and a spark plug wire on the down pipe. been driving it everyday since.Just do regular maint. and don't do 10# boost launches at every light and you will be fine!

Mine's been a DD since May, 110 miles a day in Houston weather & traffic. Just drove 1500 miles w/o a problem.

Re: Daily drivers?

Great thread. Seems for the most part that regular maintenance is the most important thing being stated by most.

Mine was daily driver since 1993! Would still be a daily driver but...a stinkin $3 o-ring on the oil filter adapter decided to fall apart from age, dumped the majority of the oil, and starved my motor of oil, so it's awaiting motor rebuild. IF ANYONE HERE HAS NEVER CHANGED THESE O RINGS I WOULD HIGHLY ADVISE DOING IT ASAP, IT MIGHT SAVE YOU A MOTOR! They're a PITA to change, but may save you more money than Geico in the end

When I 1st got mine it had 53,450 Miles and was a daily driver for 2.5 years. Mileage at the end of the daily driver was 85,000. Anyway about 13 months into it I started getting this strange oil leak that was there sometime and sometime not. I finally found out where it was coming from. Pick up the o-ring kit for $5.00 at the stealership. The oil filter adapter large o-ring had 3 hard cracks in it and fell apart in my hands when I went to change it. It is now on the list to do every 50,000 miles.

I wish I could DD mine. I don't even know how you all can even aford the gas to dd a syty. If I drove mine to work every day it would cost me about 50 bucks every 2 days. that sucks

Jimmy Mann daily drives his Ty and I would attest in front of the Supreme Court that he boost launches numerous times each day and has not had any issues since his most recent tranny rebuild 2 years ago. Waller got it right on and looking at Jimmy's truck rolling or sitting, you would think it had less than 50k miles on it.

I think the old sying of "take care if it and it will take care of you" pretty much covers it. I DD my Ty and and there are of course a few maint. related little special things, but like all things in life if you abuse it.... it will get even with you plus interest!

I heard a saying on TV that works for me. ‘You know it is a great truck when you turn it on it returns the favor!’

My Typhoon just happens to be a salvage truck twice. I planed on it being a daily driver. I had to have the frame straightened and stuff fixed. Now, I can take it to local shows, it looks that good. What I love about this truck is that it just goes. It turns me on every day.

Yup, it does ware out. I had the engine and trans rebuilt, I replaced entire front suspension, but I had to do that to any used vehicle that I keep over 4 years.

I’ve had this truck for 6 years now, driving it daily and I love it.

That is my story - - - -
