Dash Gauges Go Crazy

Aeroking

e.i.
When i put any of my lights on, my dash gauges bounces, and go all over.

doesnt matter which lights... parking, fog, turn signals, headlights, and it get worse, the more lights you turn on.

sitting idling, my tach jumps to 2k, my boost gauge reads 10psi, and my oil/bat/water gauges drop to nothing.

my aux. Autometers function though.

i'm gonna check my grounds, cause thats probably it.

has this happened to anyone else??

Truckless. For now.
Re: Dash Gauges Go Crazy

The only time I had something like that happen was when the fused wire for my amp fell down onto the downpipe and melted through. Freaked everything out. Luckily I made it to work, fixed the wire and all is fine.

Bad ground somewhere would be my guess too.

the lights are all grounded through the body.
check the grounds near your battery and behind the pass side headlight.
I think thats where the body ground is attached.

I had a similar problem that plagued me for some time. It turned out being a corroded battery cable. The corrosion went all of the way to the alternator. I had to replace it all. It looked freaky. Just sitting still the speedo and tack would start moving.

Check it out.

ok... battery has about 1000 miles on it (about 4 months old). Its not the ground behind the battery, or the one above the heater box, or the engine block ground beside the brake booster. theres a ground under the kickpanel on the driver side isnt there...??

the ground bolt on the alternator was loose, the threads in the alternator are stripped. so time for a new one...

just put it behind the bolt that holds the alternator, and you'll be fine
