I think theres quite a few ppl on here running that pan and I used to run one but I learned to dislike it for the following reasons:

1. Dunno what size hex head they made the drain plug but none of my sockets or wrenches would fit it except for an adjustable wrench (aka VA socket set ;) ).

2. The fins that are cast into the pan make getting a wrench on the plug almost impossible. I have to fit a cresent wrench on the drain plug at a 90* angle and use a large screw driver fitted through the hole in the handle of the wrench for leverage to turn the drain plug. Its a PIA trust me...

3. If you have a trans failure the metalic debri sticks to the magnet thats attached to the drain plug and chews up the threads when you remove said drain plug. I took the magnet off my drain plug and glued a magnet in the corner of the pan away from the drain plug to keep that from happening.

4. Doing some launches while monitoring a pressure gauge I noted the pressure dropping out then coming back up. I thought it may be fluid slosh so I reinstalled the stock pan and the pressure fluctuations went away.

Like I said theres prolly a bunch of ppl on here using them and doing fine with them but it didnt make me happy so I took it off and gave it to a fellow gear head that wanted it. :2cents:

How hard is the install? What are the procedures, bolt torque, patterns for tightning, filter extention?

Good points by Myclone, but other than the slosh factor, the other inconveniences aren't enough to keep me from liking the TCI pan. The pan itself is as sturdy & thick-flanged as one could hope, & has to increase the structural rigidity of the trans case itself. I have the Derale pan on a spare tranny & its a cheap piece of tin next to the TCI.

Re: install, its cake...unless you have a couple of stripped bolts in the TC cover like I did. When I finally got it (TC cover) out, I literally walked out into the center of my street & slammed it to the ground as hard as I could. It bounced up off of the asphault & one of the ears put a nice gash in my leg as payback. But I digress...

Can't remember specific bolt torque, but just do a search & you should be able to find it. I just used a logical criss-cross pattern for tightening the bolts, starting in the middle. No need for a filter extension b/c the pan has raised nubs to keep the filter off of the bottom.

No problems so far...

"Cast TCI transmission pan, holds two additional quarts. Filter is supported by the four pins cast in the bottom of the pan. Front of pan *may* have to be trimmed to clear TC inspection plate (mine did)."
