I'm sure this has been gone over before. I searched until my eyes burned and the search function gave me an error, but didn't find the answer!

What exactly is different in the long block between a standard Z 4.3 and the syclone typhoon engine? I'm guessing the block, rods, heads, valve train (minus cam) and timing components are the same. Crank, pistons, cam are all that's different. Am I wrong?

Yes it has. The block is a standard Romulus 4.3 LB4 block used in S10s, Blazers, Astros Jimmys, etc. It's different from a 4.3 Tonawanda block which was also used in S10s, Blazers, Astros Jimmys, etc. Look for an "R" on the front of the block; below the driver side cylinder head if I recall correctly.

Cam, pistons and nodular main caps are different.

I think he was saying the pistons and main caps are different, but the cam is the same. Which it seems it isn't. Just came across differently when typed.
