Door speaker panels, what to do with the vent

Has a question for those who have accomplished this before...
I already made lower door panels in both front doors of the sy to house speakers. I removed the vent at the time not thinking it was anything important, but since then my doors have not closed properly. So, I gonna give the project another go, but want to know what others have done to eliminate the pressure problem inside the cab when shutting the doors(besides keeping the windows open). I dont like the look of the door vent, bt if there is no other way around it I guess I have to reinstall it. Thanks for the advice. Fern

You have to have a vent somewhere, especially with the small cabin of the syclone. You could add one from a newer s-series (they hide one on the back wall of the cab behind the bed) or find a creative way to have a vent in the door and manage to hide it.

Yea, I have a vent right behind the driver seat on my Canyon. It is betweent he cab and the bed. I'll post a pic of it later today if I get a chance. I didn't even know it was there untill one day I happen to be looking in the area when I closed the door. I noticed the flappers go up and fall back down to keep the weather out. They are absolutely necessary on the Canyon since there are 3 rows of weatherstripping around the doors.

shit syclones are already a bitch to close the doors, I cant imagine how fun it would be w/o the door vents.

Re: Door speaker panels, what to do with the vent

i have custom door panels, and i have a problem with the doors not closing cause the vents are covered.
heres what i came up with to fix the problem.

my panels are solid and vinyl wrapped, so im going to cut out a hole in the panel where the vent is, and fold the existing vinyl around the edges where the hole is. then make a small ring wrapped in speaker grille fabric (the same fabric thats covering my speakers) that fits inside the vent hole. im not sure if i explained that very well, but hopefully you get the idea... i figured that would be the easiest thing without cutting into the cab and it would at least have a flush appearance, rather than a big hole with an ugly vent showing.

i got another idea after driving the 05 vette...

on the new vette when you open the door, the windows automatically roll down just a crack and when you close the door they go back up. im assuming this is for cabin pressure, and basically the same problem you'd have if you covered the panel up...

i have a DEI Viper alarm with window control, ill check into it and see if i can rig up something like the vette through my alarm.

That's pretty slick  . I always keep the windows on my truck slightly cracked (it came with vent visors when I bought it) so the doors are easier to close.

the audi TT are like that to. i noticed on the audi the window goes down a bit to come out of the channel on the top side of the track. i think they do it that way so you get a good seal around the window.
