I had known Doug from a previous communication, so when he did the article on Clint Eastwood's Typhoon, I sent him a note saying "hey, come drive mine." Didn't really have a video in mind, but he jumped at the opportunity.

I had Keith (sy1193) join us for the shoot so I wouldn't screw up facts (I probably did anyhow), but Doug wasn't overly concerned with stats and figures. He just wanted to make the point that Typhoons are the grandfather of a now popular genre: performance SUVs.

Thanks for posting this. I unsubscribed from Jalopnik after all the political BS so had no idea what they have been up to. Did he enjoy the truck? :tup:

He no longer works for Jalopnik. He now works for Autotrader.

He loved the truck...but then again, I don't think there's a car in the world Doug doesn't like. He's pretty enthusiastic about cars and trucks in general.

I am not a fan of Doug. I stopped reading anything he wrote after his 74th article about Carmax warranties. Well, to be fair, Jalopnik flat out sucks nowadays. But I am looking forward to the Typhoon review

I really do hope Drivetribe takes off.

Congratulations Steve!
That was a fun day. Steve invited me there for the day. He was a great host and we also went to a private collectors car warehouse and to the collectors house that day with Doug. It was definitely a car guy day.

BTW anyone notice that plate?
Doug was going to put a generic plate on there. I made Steve rip it off his wall in his garage and put it on there. We asked him to reference "SyTy.net" also but maybe it was cut or he forgot?

6,600 views already. How old is this vid, or does this guy have a following that subs to his vids?

I don't share his enthusiasm for the Typhoon over the modern sport SUV's. The Typhoon I have now was replaced by a 2008 Cayenne S. That Cayenne is probably going to be replaced in the next year or two, and I will most likely buy it to replace my Typhoon. The Ty is a pleasure to drive other than that damn squeaky rear window. F uck! Sometimes I want to pull over and bust it out so it stops that infernal racket. I have been unsuccessful over the years to come up with a genuine fix for the squeak other than get rid of the truck. The Cayenne doesn't have any quirks other than price of admission. It sure as hell doesn't squeak, rattle, or leak.

Good job on the effort to get these old turds some exposure.

We shot the video last month and he released it today. Doug has a following that is growing rapidly.

Doug reports that he can see "back end" views and it's up to 19k. :eek:
