Dyno run

Stab it and steer it
I've got a dyno run appointment tomorrow (if I don't get called in to work). It's a 4 wheeler Subie tuner FWIW. Anyway, any tricks, hints, warnings I should know about beforehand?

Thanks.

Re: Dyno run

leave it in D.

Lock the converter.

Find the mph where it wont downshift into 2nd. Mine was around 60mph. Start your run at that speed.

go for 5 straps, maybe more.

I see alot of guys say they run really rich on the dyno, not only the ty guys but anyone thats not in a lighter subbie or evo (landrover guys and tbss guys). Apparintly thhey typically don't load the motor as much as its loaded on the street (pulling the actual wight of the truck).

Also, I have no idea what your running for a truck(I believe its pretty serious), but if its a w2a try not to let it get too hot. that goes for the transmission too, you gotta be carefull, it might not seem like it but your basically hot lapping it on a dyno, keep an eye on trans temps.

If your spooling higher up in your rpm band than when you shift see about doing a higher 2nd gear pull and shifting into third to make sure to get a look see at how your doing at lower rpm (say you don't spool until 4500 rpm but you shift down to 3800 rpm, if your doiung a 1 gear pull your not seeing your motor under boost from 3800-4500 rpm, but in a RLS you see that everytime your going down the track) again, I have no idea about your truck, but its something I'm going to have to worry about in my blazer (3.8L w/a 76mm)
