I just put a new ecm in my truck and it cuts out under hard acceleration (not as bad as before) and when it does the check engine light comes on. I got a code of 31, but can't find what that means anywhere.
It's overboosting. I guess you have a stock turbo. It can be caused by several things. Do you have a cat converter? A dirty air filter can cause this too. Check the vacum lines around the wastegate actuator (sits on the top of the turbo) too. Are they there?
for mods:
walbro fuel pump
taylor ignition wires
brand new cr42ts
MSD distributor
ultimate chip(not connected right now)
intercooler pump on with ignition
built tranny (higher stall convertor/race clutches etc.)
stock air box and crossover pipe removed (filter above battery which is relocated lower)
all hoses and vac lines under hood are new.
there is a vac leak in the dash when the heater controls are on i just found out yesterday. I will also check those lines by the wastegate...maybe when I was charging battery i bumped it.
the truck hasn't been driven for almost three months trying to find out what has been wrong with it. the plugs i put in in november were badly fouled (wouldn't even start with new computer) just from trying to start it and when it would run it was VERY rich. so I am sure the valves and pistons are a little carboned up and the cat is probably full of raw gas. i just got my laptop this morning so tomorrow i will have a look inside the computer.
thanks for the input. any more is welcome too.
Jamie
well after just a moments inspection i found a broken elbow on the sensor that is between the turbo and the wastegate (sits right above the turbo) thank you guys very much for your help. I will find out tomorrow what's going to go wrong next. (still have to fix vac leak in dash--when heater controls are on)
Jamie if you are driving your Ty in the winter and want a hand or just to shoot the shit, please let me know. I am dying for my SyTy fix!!
PS: I really feel bad for not hooking up with you earlier, I know I said I would but never got around to it. Did the new ECM solve your ignition/distributor problem?
