Hello, as you can clearly see I'm a new member, I posted in the new member section. I'm looking to buy a Sy ASAP. I've been talking with the owner of a mildly built one, turbo "O" Link to truck . I am wanting opinions on this particular truck. I also got a message from Baythan about his stock truck. From the descripion he's very honest and I can appreciate that, but at the same time problems always scare me. I'm an aircraft mechanic, I'm not afraid to turn a wrench but when it comes to building these trucks I'm clueless, its such a small group and all. The more I read on here the more confused I get. If I was to buy Turbo O's truck what things should I change, or does it seem well built? If I was to buy Baythan's truck how could I build it to run mid to low 12's? Where could I buy the parts to do the build and what would I need? Sorry for being a noob, but we all have to start somewhere. As much as I hate too I'm probably buying either truck unseen other than pictures, seeing that they're both about 1200 miles away. Sorry again for the novel, but I'm just trying to make a good buy.. I can hardly wait to have a little black truck in the garage... Thanks a lot.

Also, what do you guys do about data logging? What software etc? Thanks

This just my guess, the previous owner didn't run low 11's with it and those KB chips. The KaBoom chip probably played a big role in the engine needing a rebuild. The turbo has the potential to mid to low 11's, it will need a lot of tuning.

The only thing I would immediately change would be the KB chip and probably will need a injector change, since no has used 40# injectors for a while. Since the cam/heads were change its going to be pretty unlikely you will find a off the shelf chip that will work perfectly with the combo. So will need to learn or you will need to pay someone to do a custom tune.

The build up itself is older and their are better solutions now, Probably not enough to change. The TE62 probably uses a 3-4 bolt adapter (more prone to leaks) The ATR wastegate was sticky, the Downpipe make plug changes hard. The ported heads would be better of with Vortecs as they stock heads are detontation prone. You can still go very fast one those mods.

I have never seen Baythan trucks, but I heard its really clean and its checked out some SyTy guru's before he bought it to make sure its running right.

Scan tool
Fuel pump (Walbro)
Fuel pressure regulator (KB, ATR, ANS, etc...)
STG Ultimate Chip (needs 3 bar map sensor) or another Custom 3 bar chip
IC pump (Jabsco, Johnson or Sure Flo from Campers Choice)
Exhaust
Air filter (K&N in box or on end of tube)
Thermostat (160 degree)
Torque Converter Lockup Switch
3/4" Heater for the IC.

I basically grabbed this page and updated it http://www.sportmachines.com/maintenance/recipe1.php

This should go mid 12's with race gas if its tuned properly. If you add alcohol injection is should run that on pump gas.

A willingness to learn,read and search plus someone who has some mechanical ability is a good start for any SyTy owner.

Thank you Sir! That is just the kind of post I wanted to read. Now I cant decide which truck is more appealing. Thank you for the time, anyone else have anything to add? I like this forum already.

So how are these trucks tuned? I have a guy that can tune turbo vehicles very well but no idea how they are tuned. Also, I'm having problems finding chips and injectors. Reccomendations? Thanks a lot.
