Just passed CA emissions...yeah!

Question about the egr solenoid...I'm thinking about disconnecting and removing it completely. I really don't want to plug the vac lines, I'd rather remove everything EGR related. Possible issues? Using code59, so egr is already disabled. Like I said, I want the solenoid out as well. What purpose does the EGR solenoid serve if the EGR valve is off/removed anyway? Thanks for any help.

Being that you are in CA, it looks only. Mine is disabled but I'm still keeping the solenoid in place. Personally, I doubt you are gonna see any real world temp differences or performance differences by removing it. Either way, no exhaust gas is getting into the intake.

Congrats on the smog btw, I just got mine to pass and I had to have a few pieces made to pass the visual.

Hey thanks, and you too. It's no easy task registering in CA, and especially over here in Alameda county. Totally understand the "visual" That was a huge prob for me. I stripped my Sy to the bone. Still never passed the visual, got fed up, almost sold the truck, then figured out I could register the vehicle at my in-laws county-no smog req.
I walked in to DMV, waited, asked them to take the truck out of PNO, lady said $75, and here's your stickers and reg. :dropjaw: Like I pushed the big EASY BUTTON. So now I'm putting all my parts back on since I'm seemingly done with the smog PITA.

Now, I just want to rid myself of the needless vac lines since I no longer have an EGR valve, vac ball, heater, cruise, or egr solenoid.


Update: I took both vac lines off the solenoid, but left it connected to the ecm/wiring harness (prob doesn't matter tho, thx code59), put my egr plate back on, drove it around the block, everything seemed normal. Now I have my BOV coming right off the plenum like I wanted. Should be good. I'll pull the solenoid out once I'm sure disconnecting it was a good idea.
