endgate actuator

Does anybody know where I can buy one? I picked one up at the junkyard and of course it doesn't work either. I have looked through LMC, EBay and several other places and no luck.
Any Ideas?
TIA

Re: endgate actuator

I'm not even sure what an "endgate actuator" is? Never heard of anything refer to as that in the years I've owned a Ty. Maybe that's a part that doesn't usually go bad on one of these trucks?

I think he means the hydraulic cylinder that releases the rear window.

Re: endgate actuator

Make sure your getting power back to the actuator, majority of the time, the wire breaks where it goes into the tailgate by repeated opening and closing of the tailgate. Use a testlight where it plugs into the actuator. There are some great wiring diagrams on this site, In the electrical forum section.

Re: endgate actuator

There is power there it is pulling, it just isn't strong enough to pull the latch anymore. The one that I pulled at the junk yard is the same way. Was working fine just all of a sudden just won't pop the glass

Check to see if the gate is making good contact for the ground. Checking/cleaning all contacts for the circuit may fix your current problem.

I have exactly the same problem - solenoid pulls, but can't open the lock. No big surprise though - I found only 6 volts on the control wire, there's a huge voltage drop somewhere. Check yours.

mine was doing the same thing... I took it out and hit it with a hammer a few times. Now it works perfectly! Worth a try, they seem to seize up or get sticky over time.

Re: endgate actuator

Ok I checked the voltage and got 12v, I hit the ty with a hammer :rotf:,I mean the actuator and still not working. So I tried the junk yard one, hit it with the hammer and nope. I guess I need a new one or the rig up a door lock actuator of some kind??
