I am not sure which engine management unit to use. FAST, Big Stuff 3, or Accel DFI. I ask because my friend uses FAST but he had alot of problems tuning and finding someone who would tune FAST. I want to use FAST but am not sure of the other products. Who can tell me more and point me in the right direction.

It depends on your definition of "fast". There are plenty of fast trucks using the stock ECM into the 10's and it is easily modified for a reasonable price compared to the aftermarket units. There are several options for tuning and dataloging software available. The Tunerpro package seems to keep getting better and better and is approaching the simplicity and power of the aftermarket units.
If you determine that your build will require the use an aftermarket unit and/or your budget can handle it, the standard FAST system is probably the most widely used in our community. Several people on this BB are familiar with the FAST box. I know DFI has been used (past and present generations) to a lesser extent. Not sure if anyone has BS3 working yet or not.

Yep, I have Big Stuff 3 Stand alone system. Harry Anderson out of Pa is tuning it for me. So far we have it just set up for pump gas with 10-12lbs of boost. Feels real good and best thing of all 18-23 mile per gal. Great on the highway. My build consists of Stock block, splayed billet caps, nitrided stock crank, eagle h-beams, JE Extreme duty pistons and hell fire rings, Custom cam, vortec ported and polished heads Flow 290 cfm, Ported & matched intake, 58mm throttle body, 84lb injectors, Dequick Air2Air kit, Atr Headers, GT35R ball bearing turbo, 3inch downpipe, (no cat) 2800 stall TCS converter. On 15lbs of boost motor made 605HP/632FTLB on race gas on Dyno.
Harry is also very familiar with Accel DFI, and both FAST Systems.

I suggest you find who is going to do the tune and let them decide. A $3k system untuned will be worse than a stock ecm tuned and vice verse.
I firmly believe the stock can do what you want, but you gotta know how to work with it. (not much harder than the aftermarkets anymore)
There is more and more information being posted on how to tune the stock ecm if you want to learn. In the end tuning is tuning. Once you learn 1 system, others will come quick. At that point is more of a user interface and a few tricks that each have.
