Engine Question

i am puting my new engine in my truck wensday and i needed to know if i could break it in with synthetic oil or would I have to use regular.

Advice I got was to break it in for 500 miles w/ 10w-30 dino oil (Valvoline), then drain & refill w/ the synthetic of your choice (Mobil 1 - ?).

i agree. use detergents before you go to a synthetic. i think royal purple has a oil specificly made for break in purposes. you can get that stuff from summit or jegs.

I've heard it's good to use GM Engine Oil Supplement (part #1052368) as an oil additive for extra break-in protection. Some people use this in every oil change because it is so good. It's kinda like RK-44 (MHSTers might be familiar with that), but not as good.
