Father's Day Car Show - Mission

Hey all the local SyTy'ers,

Now that Mom's day is almost over, we can start looking at Dad's day. My father-in-law always goes out to the show in Mission at Heritage Park with his Mopar club and I've had the Sy in there a couple times.

Well since we've got some time to figure this out, I thought I'd see if there's any interest in a bunch of us getting together and showing off some SyTy's. I'd say we could meet up early-ish before the show and then cruise there together in order to be able to park together since it's a first-come basis with spots in the show.

It would be great to see a bunch of SyTy's there. My mother-in-law said she thought she saw a group there last year but wasnt sure.

I might also post this in the WA section since Lee and Jane came up to the show the year before last.

Btw, Father's day is Sunday June 20th. Also your trucks dont have to be pristine show quality, just give them a wash and come out and have a good time. It's usually a pretty decent size show with cars of all sorts from vintage to muscle to modern.

Talked to Lee and Jane from WA state the other day and they are in for the show. It sounds like they were probably the group my mother-in-law saw last year. So there's at least 3 trucks going to be there.

Sounds good, you shouldnt have a problem getting into Canada with the passport, you just might not be able to get back into the US.

Seriously though, if you're in port, it'd be great to see you up here. That goes for all the WA guys, I know there's a number of you down there.

I was thinking the easiest place is by the Tim Horton's of Sumas Road (the one by Zellers, South of the Highway). There's a Tim Horton's/Wendy's there, turn left at the light after Costco. From the looks of this thread though, it'll just be the 3 of us, which is too bad, so many BC SyTys now but no one wants to come out and play it seems.

Does 8am work for you? I think the show opens at 8am, but I'm not exaclty a morning person so if we meet up at 8, we should be able to get there by 8:30/9:00 and still get a decent spot. I might see if my father-in-law can arrange to save us a few spots near his car club though.

Hey , this might work, I'll get the wife to drive the ty and I 'll get the sy ready, might see ya there.

Are you wanting to meet up with us in Abbotsford? If so let me know and we can wait for you. If not, it's a first come first in kind of system, so I cant guarantee being able to park with each other. I'll see what I can do though, if I can get my father-in-law's Mopar club to save us some spots near them. I'll PM you my cell number if you want to give me a call that day.

Yeah, ouch, dark-thirty is not a time that usually exists for me. lol If you'd rather meet up a little later we could arrange that, probably not too much later though.

Got a problem with the engine in the Ty at the moment I have to sort out. I suspect something in the valvetrain but won't know for sure until I tear into it and have a look.

Well, the big show is tomorrow. For anyone that wants to meet up with us and cruise to the show together, here are a couple maps of where we are meeting up. We are meeting at 8am, we'll stick around until 8:15-ish and then head to the show, so make sure you're there by 8am or PM me for my cell # and then you can call me if you're running late. I just talked to my father-in-law and he wont be going to the show, so we'll have to fend for ourselves for spots. It's usually a first come- first in show, so they just line us up as we go in. So to guarantee being able to park beside each other, we should all show up to the show together. I've pm'd everyone that has shown interest in the thread with my cell #, call me if you cant meet in Abbotsford but are still coming to the show.
