Filter options for a 5" turbo inlet

New turbo showed up today, and this thing is insane ;) GT42-76 RL. Basically a Dual Ball Bearing 76mm.

What intake filter options do I have for a 5" inlet? I've never had this problem before :)

Ok, not quite understanding what I'm looking at... is that drawing air from the fender?

Check out K&Ns site and order one of their catalogs if you can (they sent me one for free). Lots of different diameter inlet filters in various configurations available from them.

He has no fog lights. Uses that cutout.

?? who is doing your build. Would love to here more about your truck.

Side note in order to get air into the turbo you are going to need some sort of elbow to get air from under the front end somewhere.

Another option if this is a race only application k&n makes a 5" inlet Air Filter but you will have to offset your radiator to the Drivers Side to gain clearence.

?? who is making your headers and turbo support bracket

Re: Filter options for a 5" turbo inlet

...Years ago several individuals tested "grabbing" air from their fog lights (like Robert`s) and found it
to be very hot, and dirty turbulent air. Turns out that heat from the pavement, plus grit and
such made it undesirable (especially if doing both street/strip duty) for turbo inlets.

...There was also a follow-up test where air movement was tracked at several entry/exit points
on a Sy (ie fender vents, cowl hood, front ram-air inlet, etc) and I believe it showed that
fender inlets during acceleration were a vacuum area; and that underhood heat exited in some
pretty strange places.

Wish I`d kept those test results, but I'm working from memory...(probably done around 1994-ish).
