First kill post... 20psi launch

Don't taze me bro!
Well, I normally don't post to this section but this was a story worthy of posting just based on the circumstances. Last night after swapping out EBCs (My HKS wasn't working so I swapped in a GReddy Profec B Spec II) I went out with a buddy for a tune N drive.

We ended up at a red light with some chode in a dark blue Z28 who had a passenger and someone in the back seat that was reaching their hand out the window and flipping us off which was totally unprovoked as we hadn't even revved or waved or anything. The driver was trying to not make eye contact because he was embarrassed by the passenger, you could tell.

So I revved on him he revved back and it was on. So, I dropped her into N to get the brakes set then back to D and started opening her up. Boost starts building and I'm waiting for it to go green and before it went green it built 24psi and the back was starting to let loose. I had to let out and let the revs drop and start again. So, I built it to about 20psi the 2nd time and the light went green and dropped the brake into a sideways tire-roasting launch. Screamin like a banshee left him standing like you wouldn't believe. I let out of it pretty quick as I'm not a big fan of higher speeds inside city limits and the point was already clearly made. The best part of it was when they came back up after I let out of it and we just returned the favor off flipping them off. Good times.... good times.

You managed to hold 24psi? Is this with the stock brakes? I can only hold 15psi with all the brake upgrades and standing on the pedal hard enough the seat/dash starts creaking (Im a big guy so I can put a LOT of pressure on the brakes).

None the less enjoy those big boost launches while they last cause the 700 will not tolerate it very long at all. BTDT got pics/broken parts to prove it ;) .

Stock size discs and rotors up front and stock drums in the rear. This is the reason I don't want to swap out the drums because I've heard others who have can't clamp as well and have trouble building boost at the line. I have a F-Body front upgrade kit in the garage that I just need to install.

Same set up here with stupid soft pads on the front and four primary shoes on the rear drums that are soft as well (soft friction material=more holding power but wear quicker).

Re: First kill post... 20psi launch

Ive found that adjusting my rears regularly helps out a bunch. I can hold 15lbs easy. Course I dotn boost more than that so I dont know if I can hold anymoreyet. But I never seem to have any problems at all wiht 15. I usually turn the adjustment 3 pokes, or clicks about every 3 months maybe less. Basically when I start to lose braking.

I'm glad you got the truck figured out :). I still remember the look on your face when I made that 20+ psi launch before you bought the truck, it was priceless :D
