got the old pugs pulled, compression test done, pull out the brand new 6.95 a plug NGK UR5ix's (iridium) and what do I do to the first one? snap the damn center electrode right off. Just touched it with the screwdriver not pay attention trying to open up the gap, and it was gone. :fist: bleh, already have a couple spares set up next day air. Funny thing is I've never done that before with iridium plugs. Oh well, you win some you lose some. :(

Oh you can, you just can't do it the normal way. if you put the gap tool in between the center electrode and the ground strap, and pound on it the center electrode will dig into the gap tool and break off when you try to pull the gap tool out. I just usualy tap on the ground strap and then check it with my wire gap tool, but I had went a little too far and was trying to bend it back up when I just touched the center electrode. made a "pank" sound and was gone.

Yes, they can be gapped but you have to be VERY careful doing it. You just have to "creep" up on the gap that you want. Bend the ground strap slightly and check the gap until it just touches... You can't make it too tight and then pull the gapper out opening it to the desired gap. If you do, you WILL break the electrode.

Ya you can bet your ass I took it slow on the other 5. They are all now installed in the truck. Just wating for my last plug, and some nice taylor 1200* boots to come in, and I should be good to go. We'll see if this clears up my stumbling. :D
