Fresh Paint

Came back 5/12... haven't had a chance to post these yet. The truck was done 5 coat base / 5 coat clear and is going to be wet-sanded after I finish assembling everything to make sure we get rid of any orangepeel / scratches that might occur

Looks good man!!!
Did you use stock black color? Lamp black I think it is. That roof pic kinda looks grey.
Did they do any body work or just sand and shoot?

Re: Fresh Paint

I had originally planned to keep the rack so I did not have the holes plugged, but now that I haven't figured out a good way to clean it up I'm not putting it back on... just going to go the cheap route and put some wide-shouldered screws in the holes with silicone washers to seal it up   ... black screws, of course
However, the chrome rails are staying. In fact, if I can get the body straightened out on the frame (apparently I put it back on cock-eyed) they'll go on tomorrow with the lights and some other stuff, I'll even put on the new wheels for a photo-op ;)

Also, both rear quarters were replaced, both fenders and the core support, and the rear window frame had to be rebuilt. Also had both front body mounts cut out and replaced (I just had big holes in the floor :( )

I didn't see all your pics of the build up when I first looked at these pics. Man you have definitely came a long way. The determination you had to stick with a project that needed that much work gives you a lot of respect in my eyes! Where did you get those fiberglass fenders?

Re: Fresh Paint

Purchased the f-glass fenders from unlimited products (www.up22.com). They'd be great for a dedicated strip truck, but I'm keeping my Ty on the street so I decided to go to steel again, sold the f-glass to Captain Morgan. The fit/finish was decent, needed a little prep work, but I wanted to keep all my fender - hung accesories and they have no inner bracing so there was nowhere to hang them

Re: Fresh Paint

Did you ever fit the front cladding on them , I may buy them and want some input on how close they fit to stock . I bought aftermarket steel fenders and they dont fit like stockers do .

Re: Fresh Paint

So you wouldn't recommend going to fiberglass fenders for a street truck, you cant bolt in your inner fenders?? How about their fiberglass hoods??

His problem wasn't bolting the fenders in... it was bolting accessories (battery, remote oil filter, washer fluid bottle, etc. to the inside of the fiberglass pieces. The bracing that is used on stock fenders just doesn't exist on the up22 ones.

Fresh pictures :D (with the new wheels and door / tailgate panels finished)
Discovered 5 mins ago that school is cancelled due to flooding so I'm working on the truck all day tomorrow  . Also, got out a tape measure and checked, my body is a full 1.25" off center up front and about .25" out back

Re: Fresh Paint

the rear is riding on 2" drop flexaforms, front is coilover ... current front height is 26" and rear is almost 29" ... however, it has no engine / trans / driveline in it at the moment, so I expect it to settle down a few inches out back and I'm going to keep it at 26 or so up front
