Truck #1902
Yah, I've only owned this for 3-4 weeks and I'm already over it. This was a really bad purchase decision on my part. I sold my beloved MR2 because I needed a truck around the house. I figured if I was going to be stuck with a truck, why not make it a fun one? Oops. Should've bought a Ranger or newer S-Truck like I was going to. My wife is all over my ass about this.
Bottom line: I bought a toy when I needed a truck.
The truck is mechanically sound. I can't fault the way it runs, shifts or drives too much.
Inside and out... it's an old S-truck. I've been spending the past 3 weeks stopping rattles, fixing window regulators/motors and all the things I remembered about my old DD Blazer. I'm just not dedicated enough like some of you guys, and after 3 weeks I already have $500 into it. I have to stop this before I'm broke for no good reason.
Truck seems reliable, as I drove it up here from St. Louis with no issue and I've been going back/forth to work in it.
Engine: Seems sound, but its not the original engine to the truck. The previous owner bought the truck 7/2001 with a bad motor. He replaced the motor from a wrecked Typhoon. I don't know the milage of the motor.
Transmission: Still shifts hard on 1-2, 2-3 and I can't detect any slip on the 3-4. TC appears to be locking up well, no shudder.
Xfer case/driveline: Its all still there, and the transfer case appears to be working as it should.
Body: It's an 18 year old truck, so it has its door dings here and there but I can't see any rust to note. The previous owner claimed he drove it on the snow once when he first got it, and I have no reason to not believe him. The pans arent all rusty on the bottom etc like you'd normally see on an S-truck of this vintage. No rust on the cab corners and the doors are pretty clean below. The previous owner said it had been painted at some point and it appears it has.
Interior: I've been cleaning this up quite a bit, so its about as clean as its going to get without a full shampoo on the seats and carpet. The center console has a crack and small piece missing by the passengers seat belt holder. I didn't notice this until after I bought the truck. There is a crack on the drivers door panel that I've seen on a few other SyTy's and I will post pictures.
Mods: The only mod I know it has is a Sureflow pump + rubber coolant hoses. It COULD have a Walbro fuel pump in it, but I'm not certain. Sure sounds like a whinebro back there. I will include the ALDL datalogging cable I made with the truck and TTS Datamaster.
Things I've done since buying: Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, silicone vacuum hose kit, fuel filter, air filter, fixed a couple boost leaks, fixed an injector leak, drivers side window regulator + motor, removed a questionable alarm system, chased water leaks down and fixed them, had the tires balanced and I'm sure I've missed a few things. This truck runs about 5000x better then when I got it. I was honestly kinda disappointed in the power until I did the old "stage 0 tune-up". It feels about like it should now I think, but I have no basis of compairson.
Pictures: The truck needs a washing, so tomorrow weather permitting I'll pull it out of the garage and wash + take new pics. In the meantime here are the pictures from when I bought it. Pretty much nothings changed except interior is cleaner:

Price: I won't BS anyone, I paid $6500 cash for this truck and then $450 to get it titled/registered. I'd like to ask $7000/obo... please be nice to me
I realize you don't make money on vehicles and I'm honestly not trying to.
I might consider trades towards another truck (no 8mpg gas trucks please), but would really just prefer to have the cash. I'd like to just by some 4 banger 2WD truck and call it a day.
Thanks for reading all of this. I'm not trying to pass a basketcase off to anyone, I make it sound worse than anything is. I just know that overtime this truck will take over my automotive life and its not what I set out to do.
Also I fly free anywhere Delta goes, so I'm able to deliver this truck for the right price/money for my time and gas. I see no reason why this truck wouldnt make it anywhere, its given me no indictions otherwise and see no reason not to bring it to anyone on the forum WITHIN REASON.
