With the rate the "SyTy Secrets, REVEALED!" thread is growing i thought it would be best to keep this seperate.

is sitting in a musuem right now at the HQ (Detroit Renissance Center). Saw it yesterday. Right next to a Yenko Camaro. They sometimes move cars from "the wharehouse" to the RenCen for people to see when they come to the HQ. They keep atleast 1 of every model ever built in "the wharehouse."

... GM is supposed to own #0001 (White) and #2200 (Black) for 93

This is more than likely 100% true. They always keep the first one that comes off the line of each vehicle and put it in "the wharehouse." I'll see if I can go see the ones in "the wharehouse" and find out their numbers.

LOL.. come see "the wharehouse" youself. They give tours once a year, but no cameras.

When is this tour? I would love to see what GM has stashed away.

Every August during "Family Day." It's a promotion company bbq thing they do. Public is welcome but you have to pay. It's like $10.00. It's in Warren, MI @ the Tech Center.

As far as what is stashed away, the first one to come off the line of every vehicle GM has ever made. Never driven, nothing. Just sits there and is maintained by a few guys to keep them pristine, and if something goes bad on them, a new part is made off the original blueprints. All tooling and dies are destroyed at the end of a platforms production, so if they have to make a one off die for a part on one of these cars, they will. It will still be original prodction spec though.

....Sorry for the interruption. But I cant seem to find any specific information on
the August event (using Google). Is there more you can mention, like:

  • -the exact Date (or Dates), and whether this coincides with Woodward Cruise Event
  • -Location of the Warren Michigan Tech Center, and whether proving grounds tour is also available
  • -the Time (start/closing)
It would be sooo cool to have a organized SyTy Gathering at this event to
view the warehouse contents. But maybe this isnt practical or even advised
from GM`s viewpoint (possibly due to security??)

thanks in advance,

I think the warehouse is called the GM Heritage Center. But it’s still extremely difficult to find info on. I pretty much plan on going if I can find out more about it. This is about all I could find.

Re: GM Tech Center / Heritage Center

Bah, that's not the good one. The good one is on the grounds of the TECH Center. It's not open to the public. That place you have is just a museum they rotate cars in and out of from "the wharehouse." Every few months, they take a car from the Tech Center and ship it over to the museum. The place I'm talking about is a 300 yard by 300 yrd. sq. pole barn looking place.

Good try though

 There are lots of wharehouses. It depends what they have in them though. There are a few spread out all over MI that have nothing but original parts from back in the day or prototypes for engineers to look at from the past. Who knows. It's kinda like trying to look someone up in the directory with the last name Smith. Last time we looked, there were over 7k Smith's in the company directory

Re: GM Tech Center / Heritage Center

If this place gets robbed, and an engineer comes in one day to find a few cars, or possilby even all of them missing... well, atleast we know where to start ! :D

Not sure. They'll send out an email. It's in Aug/Sept. or somewhere in there. It's like an employee BBQ type thing. They call it "Family Day." I never go really. I can see everything without having to go. I'll post the info. when I get the email.

It's about 5 or 6 sq. miles. That is where I work, and where all the "magic" happens. That's where the wind tunnels are, all the engineering and testing takes place, ect. It's called the Tech Center. It's the main engineering hub. Pretty neat place. You should take a tour if your ever in Detroit. All the accounting, administrative, and board of directors stuff is here:

It's the RenCen in Downtown Detroit.

I just want to know how many Sy's and Ty's and SGT's are in any of these buildings. And how many of each exist. (like is it a prototype, or was it the #1 or the last one, or is it a rare(r) color or a color that was never in production, stuff like that.
