GMC center cap on Vette wheels??????

If I had to guess I'd say it's a perfect fit but searching yielded nothing.
I was wondering if our "GMC" center caps will fit these wheels?

They are from 88-89 corvette 17 x 9.5 (not sure of the backspace/offset.
I'm on my way to search for necessary spacers but if anyone knows off-hand what I need to mount these on the new TY, feel free to post for me.

im 99% they will you just need to drill and tap the hole, and remove the "nipple" off our caps

I am pretty sure you can can bolt the stock GMC center cap on 88-89 17" corvette wheels as is. We use the same exact lock/key set up and used the same exact O-rings as the Corvette. I would be willing to bet our center caps start out as 88-89 Corvette ones without the logo's and are machined with GMC in them. (Infact when you bought Corvette Center caps, they came with out the Corvette Logo)

LOL... I think he is backing you on the remaining 1% just incase they don't fit.

Thanks guys, looks like I'll be putting my $50 set of wheels on the TY soon.
Maybe I'll bring it to Homecoming instead of the SY next year?

Those 88-89 Wheels aren't all the popular. Did you know that GM made a limited quanity of 17x11 wheels that they sold over the parts counter. They are super rare and were in anticpation of the 89 ZR-1 which ended up being delayed until 1990 (GM also suposedly made around 50 89 Zr-1's, plus they mad ea few prototype that hvae been found in english junkyeards)). I have only seen one set rears FS, though I haven't been checking for them in 3 years.

I saying the center caps don't need to have the nub removed and the corvette wheels don't need to be redrilled and tapped. They should bolt right on, I am 99.9% sure thought i have never done it or seen it.

Although I will probably NEVER find a matching pair of 17x11, I will always keep an eye out for them.
It would be great to have both the SY and TY wearing the same size shoes but in a different style.

In fact, I bought another set of the rears a couple weeks ago b/c they are so rare.

From corvette forums? I saw a set of 11" rears on there not too long ago. I finally nabbed me a set of 90 zr-1's with the 11" rears! :tup:

I was thinking your were confused other ZR-1 wheels but low and behold I looked on the CF and I see you are posting about them. Rim hogger . Anyways I think the 88-89 Corvette might look pretty good on a SyTy with a GMC center caps, the rims actually look similiar SyTy except its 17" and it has the center line intersecting the openings. I have also thought about refinishing a set of 88-89 Corvette Center caps and machining them.

I've had them on the ty for about 2 years. I got them because I want a wider, larger diameter wheel that looks like the stockers. People can't tell they are not original. I have some other plans for this 2nd set. I'm going to cut the "centerline" out. And have them machined to look factory. The syty centercaps are a perfect match. Even the vette guys said they wouldn't work.

A bunch of them don't know their ass from their elbow. One thing that really irritated me about the Corvette Forums, is the number of people regurgitating wrong information. They would continue to write the same wrong thing over and over, to the point where poeple start to think it would be correct and I would see it in FAQ's. I don't know if was the size of the group or the users try to get their post counts up, their was some serious post whoring over on that forum. Sorry abou tthe rant.

Anyway very cool finds. Do you have any pictures of your rims on a Ty?

If you EVER get a pair of these rims 17x11 I'd be interested buthonestly can't pay top dollar for them...LOL Seriously I would like a pair of the 11's in just about any condition.
