Got an idea, need some help

Since most anything one does to Sy/Ty's requires the removal of the wheel wells, I was thinking that there could be a different way to attach them. Kinda like a "Twist on" fastener used on some military equipment.

It has a small wire that's held in place w/ rivets, on the "nut" side. The wire crosses straight over the hole, or sometimes a little further back to add tension.

The "bolt" has two slots cut onto it, and just twists onto the wire, holding the attached piece in place.

Does anybody who knows about fasteners have an idea about this? I asked Sigo if he might supply some pics, but with the mass deployment going on now, I don't think he'll be able to. But could be a workable idea, or not?

Thanks, leroy.

Almost exactly what I was looking for.

How'd you know of them? Work there, or have you done this type of thing before?

I guess that depends on your definition of "anything". I've put almost 60k on the Sy and never had the wheels wells out...

Well, if you are playing with the stock turbo's WG rod, you definately have to take it out on the passenger's side. Last year I used my Sy without the passenger side fender well for a well, it doesn't hurt temp wise too. Now I've to leave out this one too, because it doesn't clear my new WG. I've to fabricate someting around this. On the other hand my one is not a daily driver, so I seldom choose the days when I take her out... So no dirt comes in...
