Guys.....I don't want to defuse this thread selfishly. Shouldn't this be talked about elsewhere ?
That way, those who wish to persue the fiberglass/cf VIS version can do so without irritation and thread highjack. Its my assumption, that most buyers would only pay for a replica CF hood anyways( per above). Thats one of the main reasons a full Carbon and Epoxy/Vinylester hybrid has been kind of kept on the down-low for us. That,,,and it will of course be more costly to build, but be stronger and lighter..But will last the heat and endure the Suns UV rays without ill effects.
I've currently got worx in the process for IVANKOBARBELL's project racer. My hold off has been because he wants a stock hood with a fresh air NACA duct. The designs I've come up with are not pleasing me ....utilitarian track looking.
I personally want the 2" cowl CF too. Its just costly making additional top molds per each design change. I also make my molds from Epoxy for warp/twist avoidance.Keeps surface finish best too.

Vinny are you able to accomidate us with a 2" cowl goodmark design CF hood???

I'm pretty sure I called on that one, and it's a typo, it's actually steel.

Bruce, this isn't my thread. I feel like I'm doing something wrong speaking about my work here,ya' know what I mean ? :(
If I can get my hands on a donar Goodmark 2" cowl, painted or not, then YES. I can move forward with building the Epoxy molds. They would be for resin Infusion ONLY, not open mold wet lay-up.( VIS,etc.)
To answer the deluge of pm's and emails question too.....yes, I could offer also a CF skinned fiberglass hood for less than a full Carbon version. But it would only be reduced by the yardages cost difference of the given materials. The labor time and consumables would remain the same. Make sense ?

Mods & Admins: Please move this where needed

Ok, I'll bid into this.....but please let it be known.....I only posted the technical info earlier to INFORM, not steal the show. I just wanted you guys to understand the difference and durability between Infused parts and wet lay-up parts. Polyester resin or Epoxies.

Note: ALL hoods will be made with Hybrid Epoxy/Vinylester Heat cured resins. They would come with a clear UV stable gelcoat ( I can do a blk. gelcoat if your going to paint). Bolt-on replacement.

1)- CF skinned fiberglass 2" cowl hood, blk. gelcoated underframe. =565.00$

2)- CF skinned fiberglass 2"Cowl hood w/ Cf skinned underframe.
=825.00$

3)- CF Full carbon 2" cowl hood w/ full carbon underframe and clear gelcoat =1100.00$

I cannot and will not attempt to match the turn around time of China made parts. I'm doing a complete different type of manufacturing process and I work in my free time alone. One componet at a time until I'm satisfied with each pulled part/half.
IF....at any time a mold is damaged beyond repair, I do have to start over on that mold. I don't forsee it happening to this hood design, but LIFE can occur. :(

PLEASE READ::::: IF we do this, and move forward......I do not want ANY monies forwarded to myself to either hold, encourage or speed up their order in line !
I will contact each person in the order of which I recieved their FULL contact info(email Vinceinatorz@hotmail.com) and request full payment and shipping/crating expenses when their position/hood is completed-OK ?
The email should be headed with the words.....SY/Ty group buy (your handle here) !!Next to it.

contact info should include: Full name & handle
:shipment addy.>best if commercial
:Cell phone #, & home #
: Item request particular( as in #2hood)

I will accept Paypal with fees added.
I will accept Cashiers check, money order
If you can write a check, write it to the bank for one of the above. ;)

If at any time my situation changes for the worse....I reserve the right to cease production and notify the list subscribers of such.( hence the "NO PRE-PAYMENT")
Please understand......these are time consuming and difficult to make , I will only build SO many and then I'm done.
There are way too many other parts in the bin awaiting the go for our trucks.

How did I manage to not to cover this ? Good question too !
I have had great luck with zero damage when shipping with Greyhound express.....probably because the pkg. isn't touched again until its destination. Hoods sent through them cost from 45-75.00$+packaging/crating.
If you choose to go through someone like UPS-DHL-Fed Ex, you may want to hit their websites and pre check for general oversize rates. I'm projecting 150.00$ or so through them + or - Insurance amounts added ? Go for at least the total transaction amount for Ins.IMHO.
The only difference with them and Greyhound is the cost and the fact that YOU have to stop by your most local Greyhound bus depot to "pick up" the carton.
No biggie for the savings......unless its hours away. :squint:
I can forsee some amount of expense for crating materials coming since I have to make them safe. If I luck out and can find some GM etc. factory boxes from the body shops/dealerships, that will of course reduce this emensely. :2cents:

If we lived closer, I'd say sure ;) , but I would like to see a pix of how they make theirs . Inside and out. Our CF hoods will weigh nothing....but its the corner dropping that does the damages normally....and since the CF won't dent on the surface like metal, we'll be fine there.

Here are my pictures of my wonderful hood box that came today!

Thanks for that. Not as much foam inserts as I would have guessed.I'll be bolting plywood to the hood hinge points and the latch point to let the wood take any hits at those points. The rest of the surface area will be like the one pictured by ShuggsRR.
Now all we need is the GDMK hood at my shop to get to it.

That sounds like a great idea. So far we have only 4-5 members wanting this style of hood.
