I think I found me a sy. After reading posts for 6 months and looking for a good truck, I think I found one. He is a member on this site and sent his truck to a specialty dealer. The truck has 92k miles with a rebuilt tranny, and whole new front end. I will see it tomorow with cash in hand. Anyone have any help with thinks I should look at. I have the checklist printed out from this site. The truck is mostly stock, so any help with mods I should do first. I am looking to make it a solid low 12 second truck. How long before I need to rebuild the motor on 92k miles. Thanks guys, I cant wait to have my dream truck. I just dont want a nightmare.

Well, if nothing else it looks like a great starter truck! It's a lot cleaner than mine was when I picked it up and it only had 53K on it. Good luck with it. :tup:

Just my :2cents:, but the price seems a little steep. Who rebuilt the trans?

Well there are some guy's here that live in your area hopefully they well respond. You a little far for me, like at the other end of the state.

1st few things to do are a complete tune-up.

1.For plugs you might try NGK Iridium Part # UR6IX 7348.

2.Replace your fuel pump with Walbro Fuel Pump 255 high pressure from http://www.raceprovenmotors.com/cart/ or one of the other guys from the board.

3. Replace your FPR with a AFPR from the same places

He said the pice is flexable. I will se how much. The tranny was rebuilt by a grand national shop in sacramento. http://www.ptsnctb.com/catalog/transmissions/700r4.asp

the guy is very helpfull at answering my manny questions. I would like input at what I should do next to the truck as the months go by to keep it in good running order. he also did this to thr front end."The front end was also rebuilt, meaning that all of the bushings, ball joints, idler arm, pitman arm, etc were replaced using high end Moog parts"

Yea I'd have to agree that price is way too steep. If I could get that kind of money out of mine, it would be gone in a second. Then turn around and buy another one cheaper. Don't get ripped in the deal, my $.02

I don't understand why you would say the price is too steep--don't you want your truck to appreciate in value? Considering the uniqueness and low production numbers of these trucks they are generally undervalued in my opinion. The community of owners sets the price, wouldn't you agree?

Well if you guys live in San francisco bay area I would buy them. Everything cost more over here. I dont see to many sy or ty where I live. I have seen 2 in the last 5 years and It could have been the same guy. His site says he did do a full tune up. As long as it gets me till april so my tax return will go toward the truck.

Not every SyTy owner is part of this community. In fact, I'd venture a guess and say MABYE 10% of owners are active users here. The rest of the owners sell their trucks for what blue books says to, what they see others selling for, what they think its worth, etc. What I say has no bearing on the real world value of these trucks. Honestly, it would be financially beneficial for me to total my Sy vs. selling it out right. This is a rare occurance, because most of the time the real world value is more than what insurance companies will give you. Granted, there is a lot of arguing and red tape to go through, but I know I could get at least $20K for my Sy as it sits now.

i saw the truck. its nice in great shape for 92k. The only issue besides a few cosmetic things was a noise coming from the driver side front engine. It sounded like the alternator bearings. like a constant grinding sound but it came more like from the power steering area. I made an offer and will see tomorrow what happends with the owner. Any ideas on he noise I heard. Thanks.

Bring a long screwdriver when you look at it next time. Put the tip on the alternator, ps pump, etc. Put your ear on the handle. The stethescope (sp?) like effect will tell you if what the tip is on is making the noise. :tup: Hope this goes through for you, if not, I'll transport my Sy down there and I'll be 17K richer :lol:

Thanks. I got the number from the dealer off their website. I cut and pasted it so They screwed up.LOL
