HELP! Got screwed on Ebay, Turbo is junk

About two months ago I posted with questions about what I needed to run a big turbo, headers, and downpipe. Well I guess the real question should have been what kind of turbos can I put on my truck with ATR headers and down pipe. Because the turbo I got from TONG WEEDEN (Ebay screen name gtot) is garbage. Are there any others besides ATR that will work? Is ATR the best way to go? Does anyone have a GOOD big turbo for sale.

did you try contacting the seller and telling him that it won't work for your application. if he told you it would then you may be able to get him to take it back. is it just the wrong one or is it trash. if it's trash you might be able to do something because it was not as it was described.

I don't know if you have any recourse with ebay. from all the horror stories I hear I never buy anything from them and don't think I would unless I could see it before I bought it. I seem to have enough trouble with new stuff that I know I would be sorry if I got it from them. if ;you buy from the right people on the board you at least have a good chance of gettin what you pay for.

maybe you could sell if back on ebay if it's good and just not what you need. what is it and what did you pay

I am not sure which turbo you got from this guy or why it doesn't fit. Give us more info and maybe we can help you out. If it does't work out and if you are interested..I have a t63e turbo that I am going to sell with less then 800 miles that I ran on my ATR setup.

I bought it headers turbo and downpipe for $1970. Everything fits fine. The turbo is definately junk. The impeller shaft moves in and out about a quarter inch. It also has quite a bit of movemant side to side. I have filed a claim with ebay but only after repeated emails with no response from TONG WEEDEN. I asked asked him for a third back or a good turbo.

I feel bad you got screwed, and sounds like you did indeed get a job done on you, but how can you get this sorted out and get you up and and runnin. 2k is a lot of money and it sounds like the seller has vamoosed with you bucks (ebay is just too scary)

what brand turbo is it and how much can it be repaired for? try to get the low life that cheated you to make it right, but at the same time see about getting if fixed if you can and then try to get soemof your money back. at least you'll get some fun out of it if you get it fixed and hopefully it will be like a new one!

might check with nolan at canadian about how to get it fixed. he's a smart guy

for what it's worth and in my opinion, ATR has never seemed to be very interested in helping guys get stuff fixed as much as they are about sellin new parts and makin money. that saidl where do you go to get it fixed. turbonetics fixes anything I think. how bout a machine shop in your area that does diesel repair. bet pte would fix it. post a new topic on the board that asks "where to get a garrett turbo rebuilt". look on the internet for turbo repair. call garrett. there are so many places to look and I am sure there is one out there that will do what you need. just remember, don't start lookin for exotic repairs like blueprinting and exotic wheels if you are tryin to keep the price down. you might be surprised how many people in your area might just do a great job for you with a rebuild at a reasonable price!

just don't let this sleazebag win by hangin on to the parts for a year or two trying to get him to take them back. go on with your syty life and try to scrape it together and get them fixed....


and then make this crooks life miserable!!!!

i bought somehting off him a while ago with good results.
he sells a lotta syty shit - not real sure what his deal is or how he gets all these parts, but he wanted to talk syty a while ago - i imagine he is /was an owner.
anyway, just locate your local diesel truck repair place.
they always rebuild turbos.
every major city in the usa has at least one.

might try suggesting to him that if he sells much stuff for syty's and doesn't want to stand behind what he sells and likes to misrepresent things that you'll be glad to tell everyone on the internet about your experiences with him and that might make selling stuff quite a bit harder. don't make it like a threat but more like a suggestion. that old "more flies with honey than salt thing" :wink:

If that don't work...just tell him to go F... himself and what goes around comes around and post on all the boards and ebay that he's a cheat... ::ignore::

and then send him a list of where he should look to see what is happening to his reputation. :evil: :fist:

won't get your money back but at least you'll feel better than just takin it up the old waste chute ::thumbsup::

The parts were described as grade A, Quality, parts. He has nothing but good feedback on ebay. and thats why I have been so patient with him. I tried for two weeks to get in touch with him. I have yet to leave negative feedback on ebay about him in hopes that things will work out. If I leave a neg feedback now what reason would he have to work things out with me.

Thanks for the deisel shop idea. I will start calling around monday.
