help me please..boost trouble

i just finally got the phoon together...its been sitting for a year...i just put on a pte 52 turbo kit,a2a intercooler,50#ers,ultimate chip, triple pillar with feul pres,airfeul ratio,boost...anyway...i took it for a ride WOW...what a differance from stock?????????? anyway...i dont really know what i am doing again i am 18 yrs old and a beginer to tuning,messing with engines however when i went for a ride first i put some race gas in to mess with thegood settings on the chip but when i get on it im only getting 5-8 psi of boost depending on the setting??? what is my problem? is it that adjustment thing on the turbo not adjusted right(i think that is the wastegate) again you can know laugh at me and relize i know very little about this stuff...thats why i have you guys :lol: when i bought the turbo they were trying to explain how far to crank the bar out for 15 psi...please help me out before i mess stuff up....i just want to go for a ride at around 20 psi i dont have a boost controoler hooked up i was told the ultimate chip was a controler at its self...i had a ans OLDSCHOOL setup on the stock setup..which by the way didnt really control the boost much it just limited it if i wanted...but when i hooked up the new turbo the stock peice stayed on it and there is nowhere for the ans to hook up atleast where i can see is it possible to hook that up will itr work??? how will it work???thanks alort for helping me i really appriciate it...also...is a loud flutter noise normal with this turbo when i let off???(that might be because i di8dnt get my exhaust on yet i just hve the downpipe and the cat on the end)

dude,

you need an aftermarket boost gauge and a scan tool...when it starts knocking on the scan tool, turn down the boost (until no more knock) and you'll be better off in the long run...race fuel should help you nail down the problem...try to sneak up on the boost with the scantool instead of just flooring it and knocking the hell out of it...it wont take too much of that to kill it...search for datamaster....good luck...

i do have a boost gauge...yes id like to own data master...anyway...i just have the setup thats on the stock pte setup for a wastegate..all i did was bolted on the turbokit and im trying to get some boost out of this...

The fluttering noise you hear when you let off the gas is the built up pressure that the turbo is creating being forced back through the turbo, over the turbine wheel. Potentially, this could cause serious damage. Since our trucks are automatics, the 100%-0% boost occasions are limited, and they were not equipped with a blow-off valve from the factory. So, I guess the answer to your question is: yes, the flutter noise is normal, but not particularly good for the turbo.

thanks alot guys...thats what i figured...(about the flutter) ill buy a BOV and that will solve it...anyway...i am still wondering how can i hook up a boost controller to this pte 52 turbo???? and how can i get my boost yto get more than 6psi
