allot of awd people seem to think that since its rwd it just gonna do burnouts. everything i see online (must be the truth...right?) guys are hooking with battle bars , assassins, slide a links or caltracks with the stock suspension? so im hoping that i can get it to work at the track late this year. well see.

i would take the wrap off the manifolds though, that might make them crack.

did some little stuff today/yesterday....shimmed the starter cause it was hanging up on the flywheel. went to start the truck and the gear was spinning and binding etc on the flywheel. it eventually started. the motor was making weird noises. turns out the fly wheel bolts started backing out! really? i put lock tight on them during assembly of the motor. could a starter gear hanging up and binding on the fly wheel cause that? im definitely gonna bring the starter to a rebuild shop to have it checked out.
then had a friend cut an inch outta my drop blocks. got them in. and i couldn't line up the holes! i was by myself so i had to try and pull the rear while trying to tighten the Ubolts. FINALLY got it. now the truck is sitting at the right high/rake and since my friend cut a 4degree angle on the blocks, the pinion angle is great now.
cut out the wheel tubs. didn't finish with all the other problems i was having with everything else. ill continue this weekend.

oh thank god.....picked up a 454ss mini starter. damn its even smaller than the power master crap that broke. sooo easy to put in. and i just touched the key and the truck wanted to start! awesome. fyi, no shims. gotta get cracking on the wheel tubs.

went to a car show. didn't quite make it. blew my electric fan 30amp fuse. truck started overheating. RIGHT while i was on line to get into the car show. so pulled over and started swapping fuses...blah blah. didn't wanna start. maybe cause it was overheated? then i think the remote starter solenoid went bad. gonna swap it out and see what happens.
come to think of it....maybe it wouldn't crank cause i removed a fuse in im anger that i shouldn't have? i hear one click from the solenoid on the firewall. oh well. i might dig into it later.

damn. almost three months since last post. well the truck is running great. put some caltracs on and what a difference. doesn't hook with the silly 295/50/16s BFgs. also changed the shocks. the ones on the truck were junk AND they were too short with the new braket supplied by the caltracs kit.
im making the switch to e85 so i upgraded the rails, regulator and fuel pump. i made some progress this afternoon. got the regulator in, rails, lines to the reg, lines to the existing -8 etc. still need to move the braket on the frame for the fuel pump to the other side of the frame. put a filter pre pump, and hook up the FP gauge. heres some quick cell phone pics.
ps, i made due with the fitting i had, some would have been a little different, but it worked for now.

nope. im still not able to drive, soon hopefully, so just started it 3times since dec 3. heated garage, battery tender has kept it ok.
two weeks ha? i think you should come by my house and give me a ride. im johnsing to drive in a turbo truck. :tup:

the hole in the cab is previsions for the roll cage if the truck should need it this year. i don't like the rear bars going through the window and really don't like the bars going through the roof/above the window. so it will go right below the bed lip. it will probobly be two removable bars just so i can get the bed off if i need to.

same steel smoothies i got from wheelvintiques. im gonna keep them till i decide on something a little nicer. id love to go with a cadillac 20/18 combo. but i know i need to put it back together and do a little driving. i dont wanna make to many changes. i want to enjoy the truck this year.

Very cool build. I was thinking too bad I didn't join a little while ago to sell you some zq8 Springs because I bagged my truck then realized the posts were from 2012.
Was going to say when you paint the hood paint the lower bumper valance to match. It drives me crazy when ones have a different color plastic valance.
So you shaved the doors, third brake light, roll pan, lights but not the antenna or rain gutters? And then punched a hole in the bed for exhaust? Thought the exhaust was a little weird because ones shave for a cleaner look but now there's a hole. Once you drive it the exhaust is going to heat the bed and your going to have black on the bed? My buddy did that to his mazda and said he regretted it few months later.
Your trucks one of the first I've seen with a stock radio. I'm use to the s10forums seeing all the stereos and almost forgot what a stock one looks like lol. If you put a stereo in and had the insert I don't think the Guage would fit or look that great. I think where you originally had it or leaving it under the cowl hood would make it look a little cleaner.

I'm really glad you didn't shave the gas door. I shaved mine and the filler neck is in front of the rear tire. In Oregon were not allowed to pump our own gas so when I pull up every single time they yell out wrong side and look at me like I'm stupid. Then have to get out and explain if you have a custom car your allowed to fill it just not take the nozzle off the stand or put it back on. I have to hand the filler to the gas attendant. In Oregon they don't have the scruntchy hard plastic things on the nozzle so it's easy to fit it in between the tire and fender. But if I go to California I have to literally take off the hard plastic piece to fit the nozzle in the filler tube. Most impractical mod on my truck. Most relocate the filler to the inside of the bed buti didn't want to lift the bed cover every time I needed gas. When I bag the back I'll relocate it and fix it or it will most likely have enough lift aired up to fit in any state.
