hole in motor? NEW PICS 9-16

may be a stupid ? but here is pics and you guys tell me. i can stick my finger in but can not feel it end. also can not get my fat hand in to stick my fingr in the hole far so may just be me. also ? about water pump any gaskets? just 4 bolts? any hints to removing it, just simple bolt off bolt and back on?
i have desided my antifrezze is leaking from this area, either water pump, hole?, or if there is a frezze plug behind the water pump. i will look better tomrrow if it not raining.

Dude, I think your mechanical fuel pump fell off the side of your engine.

Seriously, that is a hole left in castings from the mechanical fuel pump days. It is normal, and is blocked up inside.

Thats where the mechanical fuel pump would go on a carburated(sp?) vehicle. The motor in my typhoon (stock block) does not have it covered. The heavy duty bowtie block in my syclone has a cover for it.

Didn't you break something at the track recently? Maybe a water passage by the mechanical fuel pump port sprung a leak???

ya that is why i am looking for the leak. i am hoping this is not the problem and it is just the water pump or frezze plug.

new pic new problem. found out it is not the front frezze plugs behind the ass, on either side. it is coming from the corner of the head/block. any ideas now? as i dont have the tools to get the intake/manifolds/ whole top end, i guess i am done for now untill i can find someone who is able. anyway here is the pics who thinks what? it is the same on both sides.

You may be lucky enough that maybe just a bolt is leaking, and not the head gasket itself. I would atleast try that first, remove the bolts in that area, clean and put some silicon or similar on it, and reinstall/torque.

Otherwise head needs to come off.

could be a bolt leaking but would it pure out as fast as i pure water in the rad? i would think it would just drip out if it were a bolt but i will try.

I don't know why it would have blown the gasket that easy, as we torqued the head studs in a 3 step, loosened and retorqued. Maybe a warped head? Oh well, let me know what happens.

well got further today for the 1 hour of light i had after work. so far everything looks good other then 2 pass underthe intake had ruty antifrezze in them, but m,aybe it is ment to be there what do i know.

is there a way i may be missing to get the manifold bolts off? i have tried every size wrench in my box and can noit find one that fits. is there a way to take the head and manifold off as a single piece or is there head bolts under the manifold. it got to dark to see what is going on. oh and i moved the tabs so that is not the reason the wrenchs are not fiting.

that thing is gonna last long in NJ

anyway, the manifold bolts should be 14mm, or 9/16" in some cases. The obvious rust buildup may make getting the socket on there a little tight, but a little tap from a hammer never hurt.

Also, you cannot remove the heads w/o removing the manifolds first.

Ill help ya out as much as I can, but right now my physical presents is probably not going to be possible.

all good whatever you can is cool i know you are busy. this is the kind of help i need right now anyway. once i get down to having to pull the motor, that may be a differant story and with jeff's back being broke he is no help with that kind of work and pual is no help at all with the ty although he has let me keep the stang on the trialer for a couple weeks untill i can get to the trans on that. oh the head was my call it was one of those 2-3 hour sleep in 3 days kind of days and i said screw it bolt it up.
