Holy CRAP, Tree SAP!!! Help!!! ---

WOW, I just got into my vehicle today and noticed I have "pine" sap ALL over my car. Atleast 10 dime-sized areas, and even more than that little specs!!!

Do you have any tips/tricks/or product recommendations for me?

Will it damage my paint if I leave it on there?

Seems like the more I rub it the worse it looks!!! It just smears all over

I had that problem once. I had to use a clay bar and 2 hours of elbow grease.

I think WD40 works, but don't hold me to that. Try it on one spot

Had the same problem on my Sy. Used lots of soapy water and scrubbing was a pita circles kept getting smaller. Good Luck. And get a car cover.

cut said trees down! lol. jk. clay bar is the way to go after alot of patients and soapy water.

car cover MUST be clean, and also the truck. if not it will scratch the piss outta paint, especially black..

Get it off before I hardens. I want to say that I used 3m general purpose adhesive remover.

Adhesive remover will work best. Or gasoline. You will need to wax right after. And yes tree sap will damage the paint if left on long enough.

razor blade and laquer thinner. used to work at a detail shop. cut it down with the razor and wipe the rest off with laquer thinner.

we have single stage paint thinner will take the paint right off, get the truck in the shade and cool to the touch , wax and grease remover or wd40 will get it off and the wax too

Laquer will work very well. However, if u have the original paint an it's not in the best of shape, it will leave a permanent 'fade spot' from the amount of rubbing u will have to do and from the lq stripping all the gloss out of and drying out the paint. If your paint is a fairly fresh paint job or there is not several coats of clear, it will do the same thing. Lq is a great product for newer cars or even classics with mega high end paint jobs. But it's not great for older paints.

Laquer will work very well. This^^^ They sell it at most auto parts stores. It will even get most dried sap off too.

denatured alcohol is the fastest and easiest compared to all the above. 30 years owning a detail shop teaches you a few things.

Stoners Tarminator is a great product too. I swear by it on my motorcycle and used it on my Ty after driving it from Chicago to Arkansas (during which time I hit every bug in 3 states). The denatured alcohol sounds like a solid idea that I will try one day. Seems a little easier on the wallet.

I agree with Ed's suggestion.
Bug & tar removers will work also. They are kerosene based. Straight kero melts road tar to the point you can watch it drip.

Polish and wax after clean up.

With a good coat of wax (after proper cleaning prior to wax), any future droppings should wash off with a good car wash soap. Meguiare's #62 is the best stuff out there but not available to the public in auto parts stores. Order it online straight from the company.
