Hood Help

Its time to get a new hood for the Ty, Something to let the heat out ( the usual deal )

Problem I have is i'm in sunny England ( yeah right :drinking: ) and buying a new hood ,shipping it over, paying customs etc is cost prohibitive. Which got me thinking, and i wanted some of your input on the matter.

I have a good body shop near me that is always full of Honduhs and supras (general Rice) and they turn out quality jobs so i have faith in their work.

I want something thats not been done before so I'm thinking either to have a ram air type hood and move the intake filter to suit or just have a vented type. I dont want anything too ricey.
My initial thoughts for the ram air was to go old school and something like the hood from a Dodge Challenger, like this

the other option is to go with a Mitsu Evo 7 style hood vent

thoughts? ideas?

i dislike the challenger approach. The truck isn't quite THAT old. You could easily add vents like the Evo hood to a stock hood...and still retain and general stock appearance. I'd go that route of the 2 options.

I just ordered a Goodmark from Rick at RK this morning. If you're lookin for a hood that's not all that common on our trucks check this one out-

It's made by Keystone. Kinda expensive though. Somewhere around $600. Those pics were from 02 nats. The owner of the SGT that they're on actually made the scoops functional. I think with Subaru parts. Sy's and Ty's wouldn't easily be able to make the scoops functional though due to our intake setup.

Mike(Renz), I think you're right and that I should go with option two, especially as i went to out local mitsu dealer this morning and had a close look at the evos' hood. I think that the raised centre line of our hood will line up nicely with the Evos line (see pic below) and look factory fitted

so im now going to go back to the body shop for a chat :wink:

Mike, nice hood and certainly worth looking into buying if i was in the states, but sadly shipping it and UK taxes would put it close to $3000 to get it here

i've been contemplating more scoops/vents (and my navel) for weeks now.
look at www.up22.com for many scoop choices.
also, vfnfiberglass.com.
i believe some large NACA ducts are in my future for radiator air venting...

Actually I have an extra hood that I'm going to mount one of those onto.
Ought to be really good for cool air on the intake.
Meh, just an experiment.
