IAC Replacement

What is the minimum I can remove to get to and replace the IAC on the throttle body? Leon's IAC on his Typhoon is frozen and won't allow the truck to idle below 1500 RPM. When I did mine I pulled the heat exchanger and throttle body but his has hard lines so that is a pain. Any tricks?

Nope. None that I know of. The problem, as I see it, is getting the IAC to TB hose off, and, worse, back on. Maybe forget the TB and just go for IAC. You might do that. If you can get the harness off and get it loose it should come out with fingers after that.:2cents:

Gary,

I had a similar problem way back, and we tested the iac and it worked just as it should have. Ended up turning back the idle screw that sets the minimum idle, or if you don't wanna punch out the plug to get to the idle screw, you can just bend the 90 degree part that touches the idle screw so that it'll turn the idle down.

This may not sound clear, but if you're looking at the throttle housing and find the idle screw, you'll know what I'm talking about.

I have the IAC test driver and his IAC isn't moving at all, it's frozen. I could adjust the throttle stop but then he still wouldn't have the computer controlling his idle. I guess I do it the right way, at least I can clean out the tb while I'm at it.
