Ideas?

Ok. Got a new supermotor from McCoy new starter, new battery, new Phil long chip with new 75#ers. Already have upgraded fuel pump, 3bar and so on. Now down to the problem. When I try to start the Ty it will turn over however it will not start. Seems there is plenty of spark and fuel. Compresion should be good due to it being a new motor. So all I can think of is the chip settings on the new chip. I have started out by trying to use the #1 setting. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rich

Just throwing an idea out there.. is the chip seated properly or fully?

Yes the chip is in all the way. However does it matter how the stock piggyback chip is connected?

Re: Ideas?

Ok so now here is the deal there is no power feeding to the fuel injectors. I have installed the "drivers" on the ecm. They are new 75#'ers. Any ideas on what to check out?

hmm, you threw alot at it at once. If you cant get it worked out try getting it to run on the stock ecu/injectors. It does sound like you've traced the problem down to the injector drivers though.

Re: Ideas?

I got the drivers from turbo time. So they should be good. I will check my solder connections. I'm sure they are good but I won't assume.

Not yet....I read another post about that is it a 15A in ECM1 ?

You got it. Even if that's not the problem, it won't run long without it.

That will work but you will have massive voltage drop at the ecu. Remind me to tell you how to fix it next time I talk to you.

I have noticed that Phil. Could you explain the fix here for everyone's benefit? Maybe it should be a new thread for the future searches?

Thanks.

Well that is a long story. A "friend also a GM tech" owed me some money. So he said he would do the engine swap for me. However he never got around to it. So a year after it was in his shop with nothing done I took it to another shop "Grandfather's Friend" that said they could do it no problem he has seen typhoons before. So now that I know that everyone is afraid to touch my truck I'm back on my own. Because I don’t want to pay 70 bucks an hour to a shop and them not know anything either. I'm no mechanic and am going off of schematics, books, websites, and this board. I’ve gotten a lot further than any shop thought I would of. Now that I’m at the end and so close I can’t give up. Also I don’t feel that a shop unless it was a SYTY shop could help me.

Thank you SyTy.net members for your help in this journey.

What is 180?
When we did a test to one of the injector plugs there was no electricity.

Re: Ideas?

just a guess but it means that your distributor is 180 deg off. this is easy to do with a piston stop and no valve cover removal to make sure you are on the correct stroke. the engine will turn over but not run.

get it? if you "played" and turned the engine over a couple of times after the cam was installed and THEN got the #1 piston to reach tdc without checking where the cam was you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right because the crank turns 720 deg for every 360 deg cam rotation.

a sbc will actually run 180 out... poorly

Re: Ideas?

Rich,

I think you need a "noid" light to test the injector pulses.

Let me know if you need help. I'm not too far away.
