Rich,

I think you need a "noid" light to test the injector pulses.

Let me know if you need help. I'm not too far away.

Jim

Thanks Jim. The Ty is in Rolla Mo right now. I will be down there this weekend to check it out some more. I will pick up a NOID and check that out also.

Re: Ideas?

Ok. The injectors have power. The motor will still just crank and not run. I'm sure the EGR is good. All fuses are good. Any ideas

Re: Ideas?

ignition module?
That's my guess too. When i first installed my engine, it only idled for about 2 minutes and then it died. Might aswell buy a new one if you haven't yet.

Re: Ideas?

Are you sure the distributor is in right?

I think I have a replacement ecm with injector driver upgrades, if you need a substitution test.

I would love to test with your ecm. How soon do you need it back? I can only make it to Rolla on weekends. I can pick it up in Lawrence from you sometime if that is ok with you or we can meet in KC area sometime. I appreciate your help.

Re: Ideas?

I checked this morning and have 2 spares. One has a bad fuel pump relay driver (could be used with the relay test wire hot-wired). The other one has a question mark on it, so not sure what was going on with it. I'll put together a couple more this afternoon.

If you want to come by, that would be convenient for me. I'll be around most of this week.

Great. I will be leaving out of Rolla this afternoon. So maybe Wednesday would work for me how bout you? Also if you have a known good ECM with the inj drivers upgrade already done I will buy it from you. Or could trade you some parts.

Re: Ideas?

Special Thank you to Jim Sloan. He got my Ty going this weekend. Thanks Jim for taking time out of your schedule to help out a fellow SyTy'r.

Dang, you waited almost 8 months and now it's finally going. I don't think I could last that long...lol...What ended up being the problem?

Re: Ideas?

My Phil Long chip was the main prob believe it or not. Jim did a trial burn on a chip for me and it fired up. Jim helped me clean up my vac lines and did some heat shielding. He also fixed a rocker arm that was ticking. That was another thing I would have never expected. Right now it runs real rich. Waiting on Phil to send me a good chip. If I can get it by this weekend then I will go down and drive it back. Have it at the Nats (Hopefully). Jim is a real stand up guy. He knows these trucks that’s for sure. It was killing me that I have not drove this truck since Aug 2004.
