As some of you may have seen we developed a replacement lower intercooler. There have been some options out there for a while, but wanted to do something that was "bolt in", simple and straightforward replacment, that was stock and modified friendly and that would work in conjunction with parts that many already use, ie rubber lines, johnson or stock style IC pump, etc. So we came up with the following:


  • Full Aluminum Replacment IC
    Bolt in to stock location
    True dual pass
    Larger core for more efficient cooling
    Factory like IC pump location and mounting
    8lbs vs 14lbs for the stock IC
    Mounts on bottom for factory rubber scoop or aluminum version

Because of the number of people interested, we were able to reprice Intercooler.
Retail price: $460
GP price $420

Single fan option with SPAL fan, mounting brackets, etc Retail price: $150 GP Price $130



Lead time to build them is 6 weeks from final confirmation and production start. A $200 deposit will be required to reserve your IC. Balance and shipping to be due upon completion and prior to shipping. Our paypal is Sportmachines@hotmail.com or we also take CC over the phone 585-204-7989

Thanks guys. You're on the list!

If we get up to 10 quickly, we can start a production run and do them in batches. Turn around time for groups of 10 will be about 4 weeks.

It would be cool to offer it with your silicon lower intercooler hoses as a kit.

Not a lot, but in the limited testing we did, on a built motor truck, 90+ degree day, with 150 degree mat temps standing still at idle, it dropped over 50 degrees in under a half a mile of 45 driving, and drastically reduced temperature increase under boost conditions. I wish we had more time and info from real world experience with it

In the design and engineering end, with the larger core size and dual pass design, it was estimated (by engineers and calculations) that this heat exchanger would conservatively be 40-50% more efficient than the factory set up.

That is one of the details we are trying to figure out. Silicone hose from the IC to the pump and perhaps hoses and clamps for a complete install. Working on it.

does it have provisions for the coolant level sensor, and drain cock?

Yep...in the last two pics. Sensor bung on back, which can be used or capped, and pet cock bunch in the front like stock.

interested as well, does the sensor press in like stock and held with the tabs? is this a cross flow? in the pics looks like the inlet and outlet are on the same side just referring to the last pic i can't see the left side

My only comment is that I would like to see the mounting plates sealed to the core to stop road debris/abrasives from getting in between that and the core or endtanks. The debris could rub a hole in something eventually.

We installed the prototype unit this past weekend.

1) The inlet and outlet are on the same side so you'll have to extend one of your hoses if you've run them down the drivers side. If you've run them on the passenger side you should be good.

2) On the prototype unit, the level sensor was a tapped bung. Maybe 1/8"? A standard temp sensor sold in any gauge kit will fit it. The stock sensor will NOT work in it.

The stock level sensor is a press in and held with a clip. The bung doesn't have a lip to attach to so it won't work.

On the bottom are bungs for installing a scoop or blade. We did not re-use the stock plastic flap.

This is a really nice unit that fits very well. No need to re-use the stock lower radiator support, cut or hack anything to make it fit. Very well designed.

The only extra thing I'd like to see is a few threaded bungs on the back side for installing a pair of Spal 7" fans, and possibly the option of adding a scoop or blade that will bolt on. I think a blade would be easy to do. Cut a sheet of 1/8" aluminum to width, round the front edges, punch 5 holes to fit over the bungs, then install with some washers, button head cap screws and some LocTite.

Warren, thanks for the input, the kinds words and the experience.

With it being dual pass, the inlet and outlet on the pass side, it makes it more conducive to run your hoses through the pass fender, which will keep them cooler and cleaner install, and we would guess that your exisiting hoses would reach if you did this.

The temp sensor, I forgot to mention its threaded. I am specing the kit to include a cap or adapter so you can plug in your stock sensor.

We made a couple of flaps that would be aluminum and bolt up to this. It would probably be an additional option, or folks could use the stock one, or make their own.

Bungs on the back for fans is a great idea. And would be easy enough to do during production, just need to look into how much cost it would add. But that way you have a choice if you ever wanted to add. How many folks would like such an option?
