Just getting here...

Hey everyone in syty land! I just got my wife a 93 ty this past weekend. Forest green with 73k. It has a couple of mods done to it already. I'll get to feel it out some more over the next week while my motor for my type t is getting finished up.

It feels real sluggish. Im thinking of doing a top end cleaning on it after that, some ac 42's(?) new cap/rotor, fuel filter, and some fresh oil.

What oil are ya'll using? Any special things i should be looking for while i'm busting my knuckles?! I've learned to ask these kind of q's for specialty toys.

Re: Just getting here...

Michael Hood at Tucker Automotive sells great tune up kits for a bargain. He is a vendor here, not trying to advertise for anyone but he sells Taylor wires for like $42 or $43 shipped- the best deal I have found on them. Also Adam in Florida sells the silicone vacuum kits if they have any left, they are a simple plug and play item. Good luck.

Re: Just getting here...

#1 throw away what you know with buicks.

Syty's have crappy spark systems. Cap/rotor/wires/plugs you will learn to change quickly.

Not much use of 42# injectors in this circle, not saying they can't be used but don't expect an off the shelf chip. 60/65's are used common as are 50's (I prefer 60's though). But I doubt injectors is really what you need right now.

Scan tool should be on your list to get ASAP before any other mods.

I believe when he said 42's he was referring to the AC CR42TS spark plug. they are a good choice but if you cant find them you can also use the NGK UR6 or UR5. most parts stores stock them.

Full tune up plus filters is a great place to start. take it slow and easy and it won't cost you a lot.

start going WOT with it before you know whats going on and you'll be asking for eng rebuild parts before you know it.
