I installed the K&N cone filter on my typhoon today. It made a big difference on the power and really brought out the whistle of the turbo. Cheap and easy power add. It might only be 20hp but power add is a power add....:lol:

How did you get 12.4 out of stock motor and turbo? The best I have is 13.50.

#2131, what K&N did you use? Hose, pipe, tubing, etc?.....Thanks

I just put the K&N RU-3580 cone filter on the end of the cross tube and took the stock box out. It helped mine. it sits in front of the ABS block and is still in front of the hole in the core support where the stock box was so its still getting cold air.

I hightly doubt it's 20hp. We did two back-to-back AWD dyno pulls, one with the stock cross-over tube + K&N panel filter and one without. With nothing attached to the turbo inlet, the net hp gained was only 10hp. The bottle neck is the stock plastic cross-over tube. It's too restrictive and doesn't flow very well. Therefore, your cone filter "might" gain you 1-3 hp over the panel filter. Unless you provide support for the cone filter, it will tend to crack the end of the plastic cross-over tube due to vibration and weight.

[soap box]The common problem with just swapping part and doing a dyno pull is where the gain is coming from can often be misleading. ie I swap this part and it made this gain (The aftermarket companies selling performance parts capitalizes on this all the time.)

What is really creating the gain, the additional air flow or how the air flow affecting the tune. Often a better flowing intake will lean out the fuel mixture, you end up gains because of the lean mixture. The ideal way to test performance parts is to tune the engine before and after each parts. In this case with the stock air box/crossover tube and after. [/soap box]
