Lost wire

Well, I was putting my starter on, trying to stip the ignition wire going to the starter, and it pulled down off of what ever it was connected to, can someone inform me on where this goes. Thanks!
I know this sounds stupid, but I am not a wireing guy.

The small post goes to the famous "purple wire" and I believe is the fattest purple wire found in the loom above the brake booster.

Also now that I think of it there is also a I think 8 gauge wire that runs directly to the back of the alt as well.

was the other end stripped? how long was it? i bet it had the purple wire patched up before and you pulled it loose, purple wire goes from the brake booster area along the firewall toward the heater box then down to the starter.

Yes, it was the infamous purple wire I got it all back together, thanks to everyones help, THANKS!

What would I do without Sy/Ty???

When replacing the purple wire how for should you go? Should I just cut it at the firewall and run a new piece to the starter? Sorry but I haven't really had time to get under the truck and look at the problems it has?

Yup, if you open up the plastic loom on top of the power brake booster, you will see three purple wires in there. The largest one of the three is the one that you want.

You can see the recommendations here. I did like a few before me and got rid of the purple wire on the starter altogether for myself and my bud. You can read about it here. Some folks don't like this "swat a fly with a sledgehammer" approach but to each his own...
