Re: lowering

The Sy must have been higher to begin with. If you put a 2" block in the truck it has to move 2" no more no less.

Re: lowering

i don't want to do springs or bigger blocks....maybe there's a shackle out there for this....i was really looking to get the same look as the TT sbc syclone that used to belong to woundup.....that truck is slammed.....

Re: lowering

I have 2.5" blocks in both of mine and they sit the same. I can't see going any lower as the front is just about hitting the cladding. Every spring is different so your Sy springs must have been in better shape, replaced maybe?

Re: lowering

Servando,

Form what I have read Sy sat higher in the rear than Ty's. The Ty were able to go with a lower spring because they have the air leveling shocks.

Dave, I believe the springs are the same. I would say the height difference comes from the 400lbs extra the TY carries and the level ride was in case you had passengers.
You are giving GM to much credit, I don't think they engineered the back, just bandaided it.

Re: lowering

i agree with both, david and bob....but bob, your syclone is extra low in the rear.....i looked through your syclone gallery, and from what i can tell, you appear to have one or more less leafs than my syclone....mine has a total of four (including the overload spring) just like my ty.....bob, yours appears to have three.....that might be a way to get mine that much lower, but i don't want to remove the wrong one and crash because it didn't handle curves and bumps at the same time....maybe you could verify how many leafs you have bob? here is the photo i'm referring to.....

Re: lowering

Good eyes! I just have the 2 mains and the overload on the bottom. Does it handle? I don't drive that way, but if I did I would put a rear bar on it for sure.

Re: lowering

i think removing the overload won't affect the handling too much....i had a silverado in a pastlife that was missing the wrong spring.....I don't remember which it was, but it let me know right away on the shitty roads down here....needless to say, i replaced it asap....my sy would need new ubolts if i were to try this, because i was lazy and cut the excess threads off with my plasma cutter....think i ruined them, but didn't plan on removing them again....i read in the "sightings" section one time that you drive like Jeff Gordan;)....

Re: lowering

got my truck in the weeds now or close to it. three in blocks in the rear and fully cranked down torsion bars. i think if i can find some wheels that will tuck better i might go ahead with the bagging.

Re: lowering

If youre looking for rims you might want to go with billet rims they can be made in any offset(Ive got billet specialties on my Sy and the truck is now layin frame on bags)

Re: lowering

how does a drop affect the life of the front CV joints? our Syclone is lowered, to about 1" of the bumpstops in the rear, same height in the front. the CV shafts tilt upward a little from the front axle, is this normal for a dropped truck? thanks!

Re: lowering

thankx for the input scrapin'clone. right now i got three in blocks in the back and cranked down the torsion bars in the front for an even ride. for me to go any lower i'll needa cnotch and rims that will tuck. i'd luv to see pictures of yours.
