Re: Manual Brake Options/Discussion

I went with Wilwood's fluid...

EXP600 PLUS Brake Fluid Description

EXP 600 Plus is a highly refined blend developed for extreme performance under the high heat and extreme pressure of professional motorsports.EXP 600 Plus has tested to 626 degrees Fahrenheit with a wet boiling point of 417 degrees Fahrenheit. These numbers far exceed any DOT or SAE specifications.

It is true that racing fluids need to have high boiling points. It is also true that fluids need to have low moisture affinity to slow the natural absorption rate of water vapor. But the true test of any fluid is how well it resists aeration and compressibility after it has been heated and pressure cycled a few hundred times. The real test is at the track. EXP has been proven to maintain firm pedal feel and quick response, long after others have failed.

Re: Manual Brake Options/Discussion

well I thought I would share my experience with this.
I started with the 7/8" bore MC which turned out to be smaller than stock at .95"
Now I have the 1.00" bore installed and its still not large enough.

Im running the D154 wilwood 140-12097 on the front and the wilwood dyna light 120-6818 on the back with 4 pistons per wheel.
The front calipers are grabbing good but the rears are not very well. The pedal has very little resistance.
I even adjusted the push rod down to stock pedal pin to see if it would help.
I think if renz was to run disc on the rears it would help tremendously...now Im going to have to order & try the same size renz is running.
I might need to replace the 1/4" (stock for rear) line & run new 3/16" brake lines to the rear for more volume.
3/16" (stock) is what is used for the front disc brakes...I think the rear disc should be the same size to work correctly.

Mike

I had the Wilwood 260-4893 master cylinder shown in the picture on my TT Ty, but made a mistake of painting the aluminum part and then spilled brake fluid on it. Of course the paint bubbled. I wiped the rest of the paint back off. I only had it on about 2 weeks and switched to the polished billet one. If someone wants it I will take $60 plus shipping.

As explain in other parts of this thread you must move the unit up in the firewall slot and align your rod with the upper hole. I made a billet adapter plate using the s-10 manual brake plate as template, which properly places the master cylinder to aligin with the upper holeon the brake pedal. My 93 Ty pedal did not have an upper hole so we copied it from a Sy pedal.

Although my TT Ty is lighter than your Sy, I have no problems stopping at 150+ mph. I am running Wilwood disks on all four corners.

John did you have to replace your stock rear 1/4" hard brake lines to the smaller 3/16" (front size) in the rear??

Re: Manual Brake Options/Discussion

good info...I might swap on rear discs over winter. I'll report back with my findings if I ever get the truck mobile.
