Bad Ass Black Trucks

My ty is still down, so I thought I would post this one up...
My dad has an 04' AWD Escalade ESV that has been pretty heavily modded. Magna-Charger, Long Tubes, full exhaust, tune etc...
He got a DTC on the highway and called me up. It felt like the tranny was slipping in 4th so we swapped cars and I took it the next day. I took it to a friend of mine that works at a GM dealer and he confirmed the tranny was slipping.
So I'm headed back to work, having a bit of fun in this freaking land barge. It feels pretty quick, but I know it weighs a ton so I didn't trust my seat of the pants dyno very much. It does, however, sound nasty under boost.
I'm going along and spot a mustang in the rear view. He's clipping along pretty good going in and out of traffic. I see a NMRA windshield banner and figure he has some mods to boot. It had the cobra emblem in the front grille and I figured I wouldn't even bother. I let him by and kept on cruising.
I wound up behind him at a light and notice his plate, R 99 R. Hmm. Whatever. I notice the cobra emblem on the trunk, but the embossed area on the bumper just said Mustang. At that point I thought he went through a lot of trouble to make a GT look like a cobra, because I thought 'cobra' was embossed on the bumper in 99.
Well the light turns green so I figure I'll mess with him a little. I figured he would take off quickly and he did. I rolled into it to stay up on him. He sped up and got over. I Once I saw him get over I matted it and caught up to his door. At that point I saw the puff of smoke out his exhaust, he went WOT. I figured he would start pulling away, but hell the tranny was already shot in the escalade, why not stay in it? Well this Suburban sized Escalade hangs with him, dead even, up to 75 until I let off!
I couldn't believe it. This massive SUV ran even with a stang. Granted it was a convertible and probably had no mods, but I wanted to run again. He hadn't slowed down much so I sped up and got next to him again. I looked over and slowed down. No dice. He just sped up and continued on at about 85. Guess he didn't want to get his ego burned anymore...
Once I got back to work I looked up the 99' Cobra. And indeed the car was a cobra. It was that year or the year before that they did away with the different bumper for the cobra and just stuck the emblem on the trunk.
I told my dad and he broke out laughing.
